Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing

Night before was Krill, purple grapes, dried mango, apple and pineapple bits with cuttlebone sprinkled onto with just a drizzle of honey… Didn't touch it at all. Last night was cooked shrimp, yellow peppers, carrots, a little bit of basil and some celery… some success. I ordered a bunch of new foods...

Wow! Good thing I haven't given them any yet! Well, i guess I'll use this water for myself and when it's all used up I'll buy a different type that will be safe.

Gosh! Thank you ZooMama! I was wondering if anyone would reply. Yes, I bought the "Refreshe" spring water. You don't suppose Flouride ions would be a problem do you? There's only 0.2 PPMs. It's also Ozonated.

Last night my hermies got:

Red Cabbage
Carrot
Fresh, homegrown cucumber
Red Bell Pepper

All chopped into small chunks. They had krill recently so I didn't think they'd be interested. Not sure what I'll give them tonight, though I think coconut will definitely be on the menu!

What type of spring water to use?

What's the best brand of spring water to buy for the hermies. I need bottled water anyway so I figured I may as well get something that was also ok for them.

It's a lot of fun! Ooo! If someone had the skill and time to do it, you could make a spiral staircase and use the moss to give it an old temple staircase look. You know what I mean?

Second levels with plastic canvas!

As nets are very controversial, I've been looking around for some different materials to create a snazzy looking second level. Plastic canvas! The hole's are just right to weave hemp, jute, vines etc through it to create a solid but lightweight second level platform. I'm going to be making one for m...

Oh no! Of course not while he's in it! I'm hoping he'll switch and then I can steal it for a bit and clean it up a bit. (It has some chipping of the top layer.)

This is cool!!! I just love D.I.Y stuff! In a way I think this would also make them more comfortable because it might better simulate a natural part of their habitat. =)

Out of curiosity, could you use sand paper to safely polish a shell to get the "banded" look? I would really like to do some work on my crab's shells.

(Zephyr's looks more like a rock than a shell thanks to the whole camouflage thing, lol )

I'm moving next week to a dorm. It's a two hour drive and I was wondering wether or not I should put her in her iso/ kritter karrier for the drive and then put her back in her tank after the move. If I were to go the carrier method, I would probably take some of her substrate and put it in the botto...

Would something like roast beef (unseasoned area) be ok for them? Mine saw the meat and went racing over, had a few bites and then walked away. Either she hates it or she wasn't hungry I suppose. :?
