Re: Substrate

If anything, more EE has the potential for less flooding. EE is a fantastic wick as well as being great for releasing moisture into the air. Sand on the other hand doesn't wick as well as EE, and water will pool up at the bottom. In my opinion, EE is used primarily to add a a wicking agent to the su...

Re: Mixing crabs???

Adding new crabs is one of those things, that regardless of where you're getting the new individual from, can your tank support another crab? Once they grow, will the tank accommodate 3 or more larger crabs?

Re: Moss pit and pool locations??

The gauge has been calibrated? What is it currently reading at? Upgrading to a larger pump may not always be the best outcome. It can increase overspray, which increases the chance of flooding. Likewise, the increase of air circulation within the tank can decrease humidity. Sent from my SM-G935F usi...

Re: Crabitat tank journal

If the sand is dry, no matter what you do you'll find it difficult to have high humidity. Try wetting the sand to get a good idea on humidity levels.

As long as you do a little at a time, you should be fine :)

Re: Substrate

I know it's by volume. Bascially you have a container of some sort, 5 scoops of sand and 1 scoop of EE.

As for the amount, I'm pretty horrible at that and just judge by eye...

Re: Aquarium room

I really want it to just be planted with java fern and maybe some moss. Right now I have that piece of wood in, and I added 3 java plants. I'm hoping they grow and cover most of the rank, and I can add some moss that floats along the top and grows down a little. I wanted it to give them plenty of c...

Re: Aquarium room

Great pics! You mentioned having troubling scaping your aquarium. Do you have a particular vision to how you want it to look? And inspo pics (and links) you may have would be great, and hopefully may be able to give a rough plan on an interesting scaped aquarium to enjoy. Sent from my SM-G935F using...

No. Not really. It's a plastic, so at most it may char/melt. Just keep it off the lamp - and away from where the lamp is facing - and you should be fine.

Re: Aquarium room

Congrats on the room. I'm super jelly! I'm kinda upset that there's no close up pics of the aquariums! ;) and no bonus fish pics! Excited for you for the eventual 55g! You could always combine your crab love by doing some vampire crab (or fiddlers) in a paludarium with fish. If with vampires, could ...
