Re: Pacing Behavior in strawberry-Normal?

How many crabs in the 60 gal? My E's and Straws both like to "run laps" around the tank and my conditions are within those brackets as well. I agree with it just being for exercise. Doesn't really worry me. Its when they're not active that I start to worry lol.

Re: Beautiful and disturbing!

From what the video shows it looks like they take 3D copies of the shells the crabs are in and build cities based on the landscape of the shell. I too saw the video where the crab checked it out and willingly went in. The crabs in the video are so cute, I'm sure they are blueberries.

Sorry to hear about that :/ Sometimes they just don't have enough energy to make it, especially during a surface molt. Your other guys should pull through!

Re: Need someone to identify this piece of wood. Please help

It's most likely grape wood. I'd soak it overnight in salt water before adding it to the tat.

Re: How to get sand wet again?

Please don't dig unless you absolutely have to! You can moisten the sub by pouring a tablespoon or two of water in each corner. With 10in of sub I sometimes pour entire cups of water on my sub, just be cautious and use good judgement to not cause flooding.

That's good! Make sure you monitor him with the other crabs though, he might smell tasty to them.

Re: Getting 30 gallon tank(Substrate issue)

$60 for sand is pretty outrageous. I think the 4 inches is enough sand and you can get away with adding a few more inches with some free soil from outside lol. Or you can try the coconut husk. Just make sure you bake anything you use before you introduce it to their tank. Doesn't Singapore have nati...

going to a bigger tank

The substrate is supposed to be cooler than the atmosphere, that's how it is in nature. Putting it under only dries out the bottom layer and traps the heat in. I keep my heating pads touching the substrate line, like maybe a centimeter over it because when I was setting the tank up the sub was ice c...

Re: molting/destressing crab-possible tank transfer

Thanks again for reassuring me that she would be best off staying in the tank, everybody. I just peaked in at her and she is molted, sitting next to her exo in her shell. She looks so pale! Her feeler thingies are moving so I'm guessing she is fine and hopefully I didn't scare her too much! I'm so ...

Re: Pet shop with hermit crabs(Let me hear ur opinions)

The food isn't the worst so that's not too bad. The tank can't be humid all open like that. Looks like a decent amount of sand, it's actually better than most petcos/petsmarts here in the states.
