Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

Pretty sure the father is a captive bred but the females are all rehomed from people who couldn't keep them any more.

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

Well yesterday 14th April I had some more zoea in my salt pool so I transfered them to the raising set up.There were between 4 and 5 hundred. Today I've been gifted with yet more. This time about 300 so I suspect it is the same female just depositing the remainder of her eggs. Off I go again on the ...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

Nutmeg came up on Friday after a 5 day moult. Doing well so far and tonight went for a swim in the fresh water.
This morning I woke up to more zoea in my salt pool. So it starts all over again. about 450-500 was the count as I transfered from the tat pool to the jars for raising.

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

I’ve been super busy dealing with record flooding in my local Area. So I haven’t been keeping up this thread. My apologies. But I have to share this news. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210401/6c0936b5e34e8aedd6ff62408aa2cecc.jpg In the evening of day 18 I had one make a break for air. At 0030 o...

Re: New Aussie breeding colony.

In the evening of day 18 I had one make a break for air. At 0030 on 2/4/21 I noticed it on the sand. Soooo close. Just one morph on land and it will be a baby hermit crab. I had all but given up as these last 2 survivors are way behind schedule. But it just goes to show nature runs to her own timeli...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

Today was day 7 and all are megalopa. I put shells and food in at 8am before I left for the day. I wasn't able to get back until after 9:30pm. I found out that during the day I had a power black out (a car took out the powerlines on the highway about a block from my place) so I had no heating and no...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021

Just did a check at the start of Day 6 (after working an 8 hr shift in an emergency operations centre for flood rescues) and they are all still doing well. No mega at this stage but later today it should start happening. I put shells in just in case about midday on day 5.
