Re: Strange growth on crab claws?

I can't see the images as the links are not working. However, hermit crabs do have lots of hair (feathery growth) on all their legs and particularly close to joints. I'd think this is nothing to worry about and you are just noticing it now as your crabs are getting bigger. BUT as I said I can't see ...

Re: Air stones vs emitters

Ive just watched the video. It states that it breaks the water up using an electric current. It breaks the water molecules H2O up.... It even states that the Hydrogen is dissapated into the air and the oxygen is multiplied. That means that the molecules left are HO This is why there is double the am...

Re: Tank cycling?

Ive just added a 7.5L salt and a 6L fresh pool that are both cycled. The fresh pool has live plants in it and the salt has a filter which creates water flowing over a rock platform. The crabs have been spending 15 to 30 minutes at a time multiple times a day in the salt pool. A couple of times I've ...

Re: Teeny shells

I got my first shells out of bird shell grit. But Aussies are way smaller when they take shells about day 10 of their water cycle.

Re: New Aussie breeding colony.

This is the new set up for the 4ft tank. 6L fresh pool on left with live plants a bubbler and a foam biofilter. Plants are in a bed of fine river gravel. A 7.5L salt pool with a HOBfilter and rocks. It has reef sand on the bottom. Both pools are supported on stands made from 25mm pvc pipe. A new bea...

Re: New Aussie breeding colony.

I’ll have a white wine please waiter. This pool has a good spa and is a great temp. I think I’ll just chill here for a while. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200906/aae31ae9640d021d249bbea2f3c69798.jpg Walking around in the salt pool for 15minutes. Got out a different way than she got in so that’...

New Aussie breeding colony.

A crabber not too far from me posted that she needed to rehome her 6 crabs on Saturday. When asked what sex they were she said 5 girls and one boy. I jumped at the chance to get some females. When I got there all the crabs were hairy and had recently moulted. However, the male and 2 females are smal...

Re: Muscadine grape wood safe????

My crabs love grape wood. Plus it is pretty hardy in the tank and doesn't tend to mould

Better outcome than I thought I may get. This is just sitting over a shallow container at the moment but after cutting some out of the front I think it may be usable.

Re: expanding foam building

Well that was interesting. Not sure it was successful though but I think it will work. Zip tied cardboard to the egg crate and then tried to free form Two sides. . https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200826/3f43458100b44cbd67a5da4136497198.png https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200826/e054cc98658576f...
