Many people in the terrarium and vivarium hobby use LED lights for growing plants. They seem to work pretty well too!

Re: Millipedes!

So cool! You have such an awesome collection of critters. I love your millipedes. Thank you! I just really love invertebrates. There's so many out there and seeing other people being able to appreciate them makes me happy! I have a tank of bumblebees, too. 😊 A few adults were in the plants I bought...

Re: Millipedes!

Nice shots! I also have milipedes. Curious, what type of container do you keep em in? Any pics? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk I can get some pictures this weekend! The bumblebees (I was sent 6) are in a 16 quart tub with a good 2 through 4 inches of substrate and ventilation holes on the sid...

Re: Freeze Dried Minnows

I also have crabs that love to eat the eyeballls out of dried fish. I wonder what makes the eyeballs the most appealing, although I don't eat meat so I definitely won't find out myself.

Yes, this is one of the ways they clean themselves. It's pretty interesting to watch.

Sorry nobody answered your question! If the coconut fiber mat has not been treated with any chemicals it should be fine. I always say "if in doubt, go without."

This gives me motivation to keep them again. This summer, all my isopods died at once.
Oh no!! I'm very sorry that happened.
I realized I actually like isopods a lot! I have a few more species coming this week.
(I have an issue LOL.)

Re: Crabitat Update!

Where did you get the wood from? Both pieces are beautiful!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk The mopani wood actually came with a 36" x 18" x 18" Exoterra that I bought from Craigslist, the tank was at a super low price so I bought it despite not being able to put anything in it for a...

Re: Surface Molt Questions

Hello! I responded with P&S. 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? I have a mixture of play sand and EE P&S: That's good, how deep is it? Hermit crabs need at least 6" of substrate or three times the size of your largest crab, whichever is deeper. 2. Do you have gauges i...

Re: Crabitat Update!

I like it! What plants have you tired so far? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk I tried a Neoregilia bromeliad but the crabs destroyed it pretty fast, the mood moss is doing well so far. I might try putting in a spider plant since I have quite a few offshoots from my big plant. I've put them in ...

Crabitat Update!

I've done quite a few changes to the crabitat since my last update! New wood and I've been trying out some live plants! I've only had success with live moss so far. :D https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190222/c65f542f42454d54d5892f0c7667d81a.jpg Here's a picture of Dottie as an added bonus! https:/...

Re: New Ultratherm design?

This is what I got from reptile basics as well. It's odd, and I personally think it doesn't heat as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk I personally disagree. Mine was heating WAY too well until I put a thermostat on it. I have the 23" x 11" UTH from reptilebasics, which looks like t...

Re: Suggestions for moss

I've used both Hiawatha moss and Mosser Lee moss and I think I personally prefer Hiawatha.... specifically because it seemed to have less little twigs for me to pick out. :)
