Re: Marimo balls?
From my list on live aquarium plants, this one comes up as safe for fish, amphibians, reptiles, crustaceans, insects, and snails. It also is non-toxic to domestic rodents, cats, and dogs (but recommends that they are not purposely given them because some may carry parasites ) So my best guess would ...

Re: Crabs changing shells in same spot?
I have shells laying all over the crabatat, and I will change them regularly often, I have collected 40 shells, I keep 20 in the tank at all times, but it's fun to change them out and move them around because my crabbies will go to them one by one flipping them around and looking at each one, my sma...

Re: Should I be worried??
Do be careful with canned fish meats, they can obtain high levels of mercury and other heavy metals. Plus some canned meats has foreign ingredients and some are high in iodine, I personally don't give mine any canned foods, with the exception of a high quality high protein canned cat/dog food, but i...

Re: Various crab related questions
And I would like to add that I have Cutler bones hanging ( I drilled a small hole through the middle of it, to hang it, without using the metal clamp holder it came in, you can buy at any pet shop that carries aquatic turtle or bird supplies, make sure it is just cutler bone and doesn't have vitamin...

Re: Various crab related questions
Crabbies like to burrow; at times for no reason at all. It is not uncommon for first time molters to not survive their first molt, especially true if they are especially small, inadequate food, substrate, temperature and humidity being a top cause as well as the stress of new captivity I had 1 crabb...

Re: What are your crabs up to?
So, I did a little bit of cleaning, switched out the Egg-Crate top for a more secure heat resistant screen top, then velcro a piece of clear shower curtain, I should have taken pics as I was doing this because the cabbies were so curious as to what I was doing, one even climbed out and was walking o...

Re: Red blotches
Every once in a while a piece of sand, coco hust, substrate will get caught up in the Shell causing an irratation the crabby if they can't get it out will change shells to try to rid of the irratation, if he continues to switch shells, I would start to worry, but if he's acting fine, I wouldn't worr...

Re: Need info on Halloween moon crabs
Halloween and Vampire crabs should never be placed in the same habit of Hermit Crabs for they are entirely a different species and real crabs are extremely cannibalistic to any smaller or weakened crabs, infact in areas where these crabs are found in abundance (many introduced), Hermit Crabs decline...

Any honey that is raw honey will work, if you live in the West coast US, many Fred Meyer grocery stores carry it in their health food section, the most important part is that it states that it's raw, or unprocessed, not filtered, and/or make sure it hasn't been pasturized in some states you have to ...

Re: Post Adoptees Here (Crabs that need a new home)
Skymall007 "I have 5 pp" I didn't see anywhere in your post as to where you are located. I live in Kent, WA. I started out with my first crabby a little over a year ago. He was in awful shape, nearly white do to oxygen depletion from a person who knew nothing about their unique care, it had no water...
