Not rude at all. I'm extremely difficult to offend and love open discussion.
I realize I sound like a total stiff when I talk facts (an old friend once called me a robot, haha), but I've got thick skin and a pretty good sense of humor :) so, no worries.

Re: Misuse of the word "evergreen"

Sorry to sound rude... but what exactly does the list say... evergreens? Tbh i havent read it in a few years but i always thought it said in brackets conifers after evergreen. So your looking for an update yes... mostly in specifying if it is safe or not, basically more detailed? Which is fine and ...

Re: I am in need of advise

Ok my humidifier is basically an aquarium air pump going into a sealed bucked of water with a bubbler pumping air in and I have 2 lines coming out and going into the tank. I am hoping to get rid of that once I get the new tank and just have bubbles into the pools Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatal...

Re: I am in need of advise

I personally wouldn't use these. These tend to be hotter than regular heat lamps and if placed directly on glass, they have been known to shatter it. It's a bad idea to have any strong heat source directly on glass, for this exact reason. Glass does not like sudden changes in temp.. There are ways ...

Re: Misuse of the word "evergreen"

I'm not disagreeing with you, but again, clarifying that other evergreen plants exist, which are native to tropical environments (some of which are commonly sold as household plants-- I currently own a few), that shouldn't necessarily be on that list simply because they are lumped in with evergreens...

Re: I am in need of advise

Have you thought about ceramic heat emitters? I have no idea about the price right now, but dunno if you know that's an option. A friend gave me that same little heat mat as the picture you posted, which I have for my 15 gal. It works but not very well, and I highly doubt if it's suitable as an incu...

Re: Misuse of the word "evergreen"

Evergreens include most species of conifers with the exception of larch. That may be, but to say all evergreens are unsafe is inaccurate if only those of the conifer (+larch) family are specified, as there are other evergreens that do not fit into that category and may be perfectly safe. If you thi...

Misuse of the word "evergreen"

I've seen this in other places as well and it seems to be a pretty common mixup. Evergreen does not strictly refer to pine type trees, rather it describes a much larger and more varied group of plants that bear leaves throughout the year, regardless of the season or geographical location. There are ...

Re: hermit crab chirping?

They do make a variety of noises for different reasons, I've noticed. Mine can be pretty chatty at times but it's fairly easy to distinguish a distress sound from a regular day to day "conversation". Only once have I heard one of my ladies warn her gf to back off after they went down for a molt toge...

Re: 1.5 to 2 inch is ok?

The easiest way to go about it is to buy a large selection of shells at once with a range of sizes. There are a few good sellers on Etsy that will sell the shells in bulk at really good prices, and they list the overall size range of the set. Pay careful attention to the item description and make su...

Re: New Crab Gone Limp

She's too far in her shell for her feelers to be visible. When I put a light on her she tucked further into her shell, and when I touched her BP with the stem of a piece of spinach (I wanted to be as gentle as possible), she wiggled around and then pinched it very tight. This is promising. As long ...

Re: New Crab Gone Limp

When you say she's unresponsive, did you happen to see if her feelers are moving at all? Also, could you describe the bath setup (type of water, temperature-- if you know, if she was fully submerged, how long you left her in, if there was opportunity for her to climb out of the water on her own, etc...

Re: Filing shells

The crabs will not be harmed by these edges. They are naturally occurring and crabs know how to modify the edges themselves if they feel the need to (plus it gives them something to do). However, the crabs likely won't bother as there's nothing unsafe about them. Your crabs will be very happy to hav...

Re: Is My Bigger Crab Bullying?

If that isn't the case I wonder about the sex of the crabs- perhaps that has something to do with it. This was my thought. It's the new moon, friends. Can you put them back into the same tank (under supervision) and get us a picture or two (or video) of the observed "bullying"? I've read somewhere ...
