Are all of these species crab safe? I'm looking at getting some once I can set up my 55g!

Re: Crab Taming?
Tbh, I've always wanted to set up a mini experiment to note if crabs become accustomed to handling, or at least, out of cage play time. A few members from other boards regularly take their crabs out for out of cage playtime and have noted their crabs do 'enjoy' the experience, such as climbing on t...

Crab Taming?
I know this is a long shot. But as I've mentioned before, I work at a pet store and have been stressing proper crab care and education on hermies to try and make our store as crab-friendly as possible. I would love it if I had a crab that would tolerate handling and transportation well so that I cou...

Pet Store Care Guide
Hey all! I recently got a new pet store job (one that's much better than my old Petsmart gig *barf*) and will be taking over the hermit crab tank! My managers are really supportive of my campaign to change how we care for the crabs in-house and how we educate our customers on crabbing. My first big ...

Fist-a-cuffs in the temporary tank
HELP PLEASE! I currently have 2 10gal tanks set up to keep my crabs from molting before I move to my new place. I have had 3 crabs split 2 and 1 in these tanks. Today I brought the new guy, who was de-stressing in the main tank. I dipped him in the FW put him in with what I believed to be my nicest ...

Yes, most definitelyStella wrote:Congratulations!
I personally think it’ll be fine, they will establish a pecking order. But, did you dip the new crab into the freshwater of the crabitat?

New Adoption! And worried crab momma
I picked up a new rescue for free from a pet store recently and added him to the main tank after giving him a dip in the freshwater pool. I have 3 other PPs in the tank, all bigger than the new guy. As I was watching the new crab's first encounter with his new tank mates, I realized that I had forgo...

Alaska Hermit Store missing?
So I finally earned some money to order my guys some more awesome stuff from the Alaska Hermit store. I followed the link from the Shopping Resources page...but it didn't bring me to the store's home page. I searched the store via the Google machine...but didn't find any results leading to this awes...

In addition to GB's questions, have any of them molted yet?

Re: Post your stories and pics of crabs in wheels here!
I ALWAYS hear someone bumping against the wheel every night! When I first added my smallest crab to the main tank, he spent a full 24 hours (or more) on the thing, eventually falling asleep on it. Now all 3 of them seem determined to climb to the top of the inside without it turning. The last 2 pics...

Re: He's Back!
How long has the classroom crab been down? Also, how big is that crab? If you try to move the tank with them still down it is likely that their molting cave will collapse and the crab will suffocate. The only way to move him/her would be to dig them up, but that can be very dangerous if they have al...

Re: Are my hermies molting again
Mine usually start binge eating and tunneling a lot before they head down. My biggest guy (in a snug 1" opening shell) went down in March and I'm not expecting him to be up for at least another month.

Re: New Crabitat - Help me build it!
In regards to the dollar-per-gallon sales, I talked to a Petco employee and they should be having that sale either mid-June or mid-July (I can't remember which). Or you could also check the Facebook marketplace. I got my 30gal there for $20!
