Re: SMALL amount of clean sand -- source?

Know anyone with kids that might like a play sand donation?

Re: SMALL amount of clean sand -- source?

I found this, read some reviews. Someone uses it for turtles and is happy with it. A little pricey. https://www.amazon.com/Pure-Organic-Ingredients-Eco-Friendly-Creativity/dp/B07F4NHZQ2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=sand+10+pounds&qid=1611016460&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaW...

Re: messy messy crabs

Cats for pets = hair on everything and cat litter tracked on the floor. Dogs for pets = hair on most things, and dog toys un-stuffed on the floor. Crabs for pets = sand in the sink and on the floor, and trashed tanks! I also have a bird, so add feathers and seeds to the mix. My fish on the other ha...

Re: messy messy crabs

I change things around on the tank often to keep them active so I clean up the tank. Besides that theres not much to keep them from trashing the tank. But its a sign of healthy hermit crabs. Re: CORAL LOVES SHRIMP

I bought the freeze dried cricket, meal worms, etc. Mine wouldn't touch it. Ran it through my spice grinder and now they think it's wonderful. Go figure.

Re: General food info

They need protein, veggie, fruit and calcium. Now, I do use egg shell, but not just egg shell, mine have cuttle bone and about 3 others I rotate. I offer a dry protein, was a mix for turtles I got from petco, since my crabs are picky heathens I had to grind it in my spice grinder, but that doesn't m...

Re: Food storage and organization

I forgot, I also keep a tiny pair of scissors to cut things into smaller pieces and a set of tiny measuring spoons. Smigeon, dash and pinch.

Re: Food storage and organization

I keep mine in small ziploc bags. I divide them in 3's and use tiny clothes pins to keep those 3's together. I keep those inside a plastic container in 2 rows. I put the one I use on the bottom and that way they rotate. I keep the jars of things on top, only have 3 little jars so it hasn't been a pr...

Re: Help setting up pool/bubbler

Unless you really want the hassle of bubblers, they aren't 100% necessary. A salt pool deep enough to submerge is however. Just change the water every couple of days. I have a deeper salt pool and a shallower fresh pool. In the 3 years I've had my 2 guys I've never seen them actually get in the fres...

Re: humidity

Thanks, probably mine is just frigging old. I expect that glass topper is about 18 or so. I've had that tank since right after we moved here.

Re: humidity

I have glass tops for both tanks and love them! Your crabs don't mess with the plastic extender in the back? I'd worry my little heathens would lift it up and leave. I have that top for my aquarium and I just know the boys would get out of there. I was considering having glass cut to fit the entire...

Re: humidity

I had glass cut to fit my mesh lid and taped it down with duct tape. Keeps heat in and keeps the humidity up.
