Re: Food Storage ideas

I keep mine in little ziplock bags inside a Tupperware container. One for dry food and one for frozen.

Re: Kinda weird

Crabs are just weird. And who knows what all they have stored in their shell. Might not have to move for a month. LOL

Re: hot summer and heating problem

I have the mesh lids (made for reptiles) I had a piece of glass cut to fit the mesh part and duct taped it down. Works great.

Re: Hard water spots??

I have used salt, aquarium salt on fish tanks. You use it like an abrasive. Not much good if the tank is occupied.

Re: Help! I really need it.

I'd be worried about nothing between them and freedom but plastic wrap. Mine cruise the ceiling a lot, it's a mesh lid with glass over it. It's a noisy cruise.

Re: Possible surface molt?

I had to look that up. The one thing most crabs want/need to do after being held in pet store conditions is destress. I'm going to assume keeping them in what amounts to the same conditions isn't going to help that any.

Re: Not eating protein?

I found that if I grind the dried mealworms and crickets mine eat it better. I ended up running the whole bunch through my spice grinder.

Re: What is Your Crab Story?

I got mine when my grandkids won them at the county fair in 2016 or thereabouts. I've just added one E to the 2 PP's they brought home. Had them in a 10g, moved to a 20g and I'm hoping to get them in the 75g I have in the barn in the next year or so.

Re: Hanging A Net...

I have had both good and bad luck with the command hooks. I figure with the ones that came off quickly, the glass might not have been dry enough or maybe a bit of sand was under it. But I've got a few that have stayed on for about a year now. For all I know one of them yanked it off. LOL Sent from m...

Feeding time

They get a smidgen of this, a pinch of that, a dash of this other and some slivers to round it out. I do believe tonight is deer night. I love these little measuring spoons.Image

Re: New crab, strange initiation to the crabitat?

I assume you dipped the newby in the water before adding him/her? I've only added the one and he was an E, smaller than my PPs, he marched over to one, got right in his face and promptly got flipped to the other side of the tank, then he went to the shyer PP and that one hunkered down and the first ...

Re: Substrate/your opinion

So long as your crabs are growing, active, healthy and such. It's the right way. I'm a firm believer in, if it's not broke, don't fix it.
