Re: Air pump recommendations?

What size pools and bubblers are you planning to have? I bought a Fusion 700 Air Pump almost two years ago. It works great but it is way too powerful for what I need. It has two outputs and a single dial to control the air flow. Each line runs to each of my pools. Then the lines T off in line regula...

Re: Mold Issue :(

I am experiencing the same issue with a reptile hammock we purchased at a store. It was growing mold so I removed it. Soaked it in boiling saltwater, turned the heat off and let it slowly cool and soak for at least 20 minutes. While it was in the water I scrubbed the mold off and did not see any rem...

Re: My first bacteria bloom

Yea, one line says it felt dry but had just enough enough to pack. Then next line was if the sand is wet it should be dried.
It is very similar to our mixing protocol. Just a different wording at best.

Re: Crabs can smell?

Here is a pretty interesting story on how they smell. Yet another reason that proves proper humidity is crucial!

Re: I just realized, I haven’t shared....

It's been pretty awesome watching these grow up. Way quicker transition time to Megalopa! Mary is definitely the crabby baby whisperer! I still believe the larger cycled water pools play a big factor in the success of crabs successfully dropping the eggs in the correct pool. Sent from my Pixel 2 usi...

Re: My first bacteria bloom

Awesome! Egg Crate it the best to add tons of climbing area! The nice thing is that you will never have to adjust the wheel again. It makes it pretty easy to attach things to it too. I like to do all the attaching before putting it into the tank.

Re: Who Doesn't Like Baby Pictures?

Here are some photos of their check in a few months back. They are still tiny and can tuck waaaay into their shells. If you check the original photos you can see how much they have grown in 10 months with us. One of they was super fiesty while holding him. He kept trying to pinch me but my finger ar...

Re: Having A Lot Of Trouble With Shells

@CrabbyChelle628 we got them at last year's Crab Con. Looking back on the pictures they did grow a lot but are still tiny. It's really hard to say how many times they have molted. They only take a few days to molt and we don't see them all the time. I have been posting pictures in the following link...

Re: My first bacteria bloom

We thought the same thing after our flood/bloom too. It may take longer, but if you mix your sub in smaller batches you can adjust the consistency easier from batch to batch. It's a lot easier to add water a little at a time than to remove it. It isn't really discussed here but over at CSJ they reco...

Re: Looking for thermostat recommendations

We use I-Power thermostats from Amazon. They are under $20. We have one on each of our 5 tanks and never had an issue in about two years of using them. We use a big UTH across the back of our tanks and an additional UTH on the sides. We plug the large UTH into the thermostat and the smaller UTH powe...

Re: How to find a food they like

We offer the crabs spaghetti whenever we cook it. Just boilil water and don't add any salt into the water. After it's cooked we add organic coconut oil to it.

Check our care guides for the safe food list. It will give you plenty of ideas for flowers and other items!

Re: How to find a food they like

Sometimes it takes crabs several offerings to try new foods. They only eat a little bit so it's hard to actually tell if they are eating if you serve big portions. Perhaps offering smaller portions will help you see what they are eating. Ours love fresh fruits and dehydrated. Apples, pears, bananas,...

Re: Worm Castings

We got a big bag of worm castings from an adoption last year! I would say whatever is organic and is a fair price. Choose wisely because it will last a long time. The one we got is a 6 pound bag. It was maybe 3/4 full when we got it. Almost a year later we are down to about half! That's with offerin...

Re: Having A Lot Of Trouble With Shells

Measuring shells is one of the most difficult things to get right. Choosing from small medium or large will give you very rough sizes. You need to measure the shell opening of the crab that needs a new shell. Measure across the widest part of the opening. Once you get that measurement you need to ad...

Re: My 75g

Nice! I have been wanting to add a topper to my 75 for over a year now! I have been putting it off because I can't find the size terrarium I want used! I can't wait to see how you progress! I know what you mean with not being happy after so long. We were in a hurry to decorate because we had a bloom...
