Re: Does anyone know how to add a second floor inside the tank?

It takes some time but isn't hard if you have a good set of diagonal cutters to cut the material. It has been holding up very well even the 20 gallon I did back at the beginning of the year has been doing great. No crabs have knocked over a wheel or got stuck behind it, yet.

Re: Crabbie Cam Videos (Updated 6/16/19)

Thanks. I believe the color boosting foods I purchased from Etsy from The Cholla Queen are the secret. After their last molts most of them seem to have gotten darker. Even the rescue I got in January seems to have darkened after his first molt with me.

Re: First shell change is crab not happy?

Crabs can be extremely fussy when it comes to shells. I already watched one of our crabs poke it's head in the shell, roll it around, peek inside, inspect the outside, and so on. If another crab came close they were quickly chased away. This went on for 30-40 minutes before the crab decided it wasn'...

Re: Does anyone know how to add a second floor inside the tank?

It hasn't been working very well! They knock over the toilet daily and still prefer to poop in the wheels, water and food dishes!

I saw the toilet at Petco and had to buy it! It's non functioning of course! Just being sarcastic!

Re: Does anyone know how to add a second floor inside the tank?

I used light diffusers from Lowe's on the rear wall and to make a second floor. I zip tied the wheel onto the rear wall so the base was above the wheel. Then cut a narrow ledge as wide as the wheels base and made it extend out for a second level. I secured it all with zip ties. On the other side of ...

Re: Attaching corner guards help

Fleabag to the rescue! I believe these are the corner guards you are referring to. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190618/d5ce5b31c7f9cd3f0438d6b78abc5228.jpg Fleabag drilled holes through both edges. That helps attach items like nets and wood. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190618/d0a772b3b9...

Re: Pesticides and Fertilizers

Thanks, I knew I read it was possible a while back but wasn't sure of the time frame. I'll definitely do some research before attempting it.

Re: How Long is Too Long for a Molt

We have had crabs molt anywhere from 2-3 weeks for quarter sized up to 4 months for ones in Almost tennis ball sized shells. Large crabs can molt for around 8 months! They can also be sneaky and coming up at night to eat then hide by early morning. The best is to just ride it out and wait.

Re: Pesticides and Fertilizers

So it is possible to buy store bought plants and flowers not know if pesticides and fertilizers were used? As long as you repot in organic soil and detox them for 3 months or longer?

Re: Hows this setup looking?

This is looking good for a first crabitat. As curly mentioned deeper water dishes depending on the size of the crabs. We use plastic food containers and use plastic crafting mesh attached with zip ties. You can also use a second container and keep that in the substate. That way when you change out t...

Re: Crabs fighting?

I had the same thing happen when I added a rescue crab to my tank. One of my original guys grabbed the new one from behind. I heard chirping from the new one and quickly separated them. Then he went after the same crab again. I added a few new shells after dipping them in salt water and the attacked...
