Re: Molt Color Question

All my crabbies are different colors when they come up! Sometimes I don't recognize them. Yes, diet has a lot to do with it, but sometimes age does as well. My 2 small guys were pink when they went down. When they came up, they were purple and orange. Some have the most beautiful colors that they di...

Re: Pp's shopping list help

We always use organic foods. Raisins, dried fruits, beans, seeds (pinto, lentils, sunflower, quinoa). Our crabbies love fresh carrots and various fruits. Oh, and walnuts, pecans, almonds!

Re: Isolation

I keep mine in iso until I feel comfortable that it's completely healthy and had a successful molt. The go thru their form of P.T.S.D.

Re: substrate water

Ok, I read your past posts. I should have done that before. Personally, I'd say to remove the substrate if the water used in it was not DC. Do you have an UTH on the back of the tank? Make sure it's above the substrate. Do you have DC salt water for them?

Re: substrate water

I don't know how many crabbies you have or if any are down molting. I'd say use DC water for everything. Chlorine is very bad for them.

Re: substrate water

The norm is 1 part eco earth to 5 parts sand. Add DC water (salt or fresh) til it's sand castle consistantsy. It should be deep enough for your largest crabs to completely submerge. We have 7" in the 30 gallon for small/medium crabs and 12" in the 55 for our large/jumbo crabs. Sent from my Pixel 3 u...

Re: Another flood and -1 crab

We have had crabs go down and not come back up and the shell was empty. No idea what happened. There wasn't any smell either.

Re: Any suggestions?

Go ahead! I get decorating shells from craft/hobby stores. I boil them, soak them in DC water, dry completely, then glue them with silicone. But it has to sit out of the tank to dry. Fumes and stickiness are bad for crabbies.

Re: Any suggestions?

I have 7" in the 30 gallon and 12" in the 55 gallon. My crabs are ping pong ball sized to the size of an orange. My substrate settles, so I like to add a little more to make sure that they still have enough after it settles.

Re: Any suggestions?

I weave/braid hemp as climbing ropes and use zip ties to attach Cholla. I like to add climbing things. I use Terra cotta pots with moss. We have a shelf too https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/5554c14b8438111bd5f771abad886504.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190509/95d8766e0b04a85528f0c6...
