Hairy legs!

This is my killer crab. She loves other crabs, but always tried to attack me. She just came up from a molt. Her legs are so unbelievably hairy! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191022/d18f3f988373e561dc54f487cdd4e01b.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191022/f9caae3b8ecabe26f7ceaf9063ef5cd9.jp...

Re: Possible bacterial bloom? (pic)

We have had bacterial blooms in 2 tanks. They smell awful. One smelled like rancid ammonia, the other like rotted eggs/sulphur. They were grey and black. It's an unforgettable smell. We lost 2 crabs, one was Eddie that we tied to save. If this is your case, we and other members will help you through...

Re: Humidity question

Mine do that too. That probably happens in nature. As long as it doesn't get too low and stay low, you should be fine.

Re: Glass Lid Not Fitting

We drilled holes in them to add climbing things, but we have tiny babies and they can't climb out. I wouldn't recommend holes if you have bigger crabbies because they will be able to push out! We use aquarium silicone and let it dry for 3-5 days to make sure it's dry and there's no fumes. Sent from ...

Re: Glass Lid Not Fitting

Do you mean too narrow as in it doesn't fit snugly from front to back? If so, I have the same issue. We siliconed corner guards around the inner part of the tank under the lip. They are found in the bathroom section of Lowe's. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2019...

Re: reptilebasics UTH

They are on Amazon. They may be like $20 or so. Plug the UTH into it, then plug the regulator into the wall. Set your temp. It's easy and maintains a steady heat within a few degrees. We have them for all 5 tanks. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190929/5424a59fea3718ef385ec16e1510f7b6.jpg Sent fr...

Re: Cleaning new shells

I agree with Scarlet. I have always used metal pots. They actually have a pot just for them that doesn't get used for anything else. DC SW. They always go crazy for the "new" clean shells and usually do a few pants changes.

We use regulators with our UTH. The temp never gets too hot that way

Re: Proteins?

Thank you, Joe! That's what I needed to know. What I wanted to know was if bugs, which are plentiful were a good source of the nutrition they need. In the wild, I'm guessing they wouldn't be eating chicken, lamb, cows and pigs on a daily basis.
