Ok should I not spray at all in the tank? I read spraying it with salt water prevents mold? Is it ok to spray other parts of the tank with freshwater to help with humidity (ours stays around 60-70 usually)?
Too much spraying can lead to a flood. What type of lid do you have?

Re: How to know when exo has hardened?

I think it can take 2 weeks or so to harden. I'm sure someone with more experience will give an answer.

Re: Pet Sand

We have had all our crabs for a couple months now. They are so skittish. I rarely ever see them. They are always hiding. If one happens to come out and someone walks by the tat they hide again. Any clue when this behavior might end? Conditions in the tat are good. I think they r just scared. We don...

Re: Dead crab?

I'm so sorry to hear of this tragedy! It's so hard not to give in to pity purchases but it really is the right thing to do. Something we all can try, (and I admit that I had the advantage of working in a pet store with good people who trusted me when I said "here's what needs to be done for this an...

Thank you so much. I've passed this on to her.
She found one on facebook. Thank you for the suggestion. It was still $100 but almost brand new.

Re: Humidity

I have a heat lamp now, the lady at Petco said I could use a 50 watt bulb. It is keeping my crabitat at 75 so is it okay to use or should I drop to 25 watt? I will take note on the gravel! I did not know that. I have made the sand much deeper now. When you say sandcastle consistency, do I mist the ...

I watched a crab check out a shell for TWO hours and not choose it.

Re: Flukers Heat Mat

Thank you, but I'm still learning too! Herpstat and Vivarium Electronics are the most recommended. I don't think any of the thermostat makers have a cheap digital unit though. The analogue dial versions are a lot less expensive and do work the same without all the extra bells and whistles. (I actua...

Re: Does anyone know how to add a second floor inside the tank?

I used light diffusers from Lowe's on the rear wall and to make a second floor. I zip tied the wheel onto the rear wall so the base was above the wheel. Then cut a narrow ledge as wide as the wheels base and made it extend out for a second level. I secured it all with zip ties. On the other side of...

Re: Flukers Heat Mat

@wodesorel - I have a question that doesn't really have anything to do with this topic. Sorry. But I know you're a reptile expert. My daughter has a banana ball python and her thermostat isn't working. She's in college and doesn't really have money for a herpstat, which she has heard is the best bra...

Very normal. They sometimes change back and forth. Like women trying on shoes.

Re: Does anyone know how to add a second floor inside the tank?

I have used a wire shelf with craft mesh attached. I attach the shelf to the side with command strios. And use a bird ladder for them to climb.
