How long have they had deep enough substrate? Maybe they're molting because they finally can. They can be under from weeks to months. You can smooth out the top of the substrate and then you would be able to see any claw prints.

Crab on the run

Watch the upper right of the screen. I can't imagine what was said to that guy to make him run for his life like that. You're house is on fire? If you leave now I won't kill you?

Re: Need to move tank but has 2 molters

When you say counters, do you mean counter tops? Will they be using adhesive? I just recently had countertops installed in my kitchen and the fumes were incredible. I put towels over my tanks which were in the next room.

really? my cage is pretty tall...

but you are probably right! i will keep that in mind.
They're also called tree climbers. Because they climb trees in the wild. 30ft trees and drop at times, pretty much unharmed.

Moving large tank

I have a chance to get a 180 gal tank with built in stand (the tank is built in. Lol) for a really good price. The issue is moving it. Obviously we would need several guys but my husband thinks we would need a crane. How have any of you who have large tanks moved them?

Re: Painted Shells

No, I was just wondering if there was a way I could spruce up the tank safely, and also found a way to tell which hermit crab is which. [emoji16] Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk Once they start switching shells, even with a dot of paint, there's no way to know who's who. Unless you really know ...

Re: Too easy?

Some craft mesh would work on the inside of the pit. I usually fill my moss pit all the way to the top with moss. They really like to bury and hide in that. We started to drill holes across the top of the of the pit so we can add fake plants to the outside. You could do the same and attach the mesh...

Re: Too easy?

I think that is okay. I thought they were having trouble getting out of the pit itself! So long as they can reach the top, they'll drop if they want to do. I wouldn't worry too much about them using the ladder. Well it looks like they sort of have trouble getting to the top. It definately takes a l...

What is considered a treat? I have seen my Peach eat banana, and I think they have eaten honey and applesauce
You wouldn't really want to put anything sticky in the wheel. It would be difficult to clean. Popcorn, cheerios, coconut.

Re: Too easy?

Don't leave places where they could get trapped or have a super difficult time getting back out. Crabs panic, and they can inadvertently harm tankmates. So I should attach craft mesh to the inside and outside of the moss pit? It's incredible that they can get to the top of the moss. It's just then ...
