Hanging out

3 large crabs hanging in the wheel during the day. Of course they started freaking when I cracked open the lid to take the pic.Image

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Watch the video then imagine their conversation. I think it went like this:

I'm gonna sit my big shell butt and take up the whole food dish.

Move! Get your big shell butt out of here! Go!

Ok. Ok. I'm going. Sheesh.

I'm not hungry now anyway.

Re: He finally came out

Some people can keep track by their personalities but that's not me. I have 8 in one tank and 6 in another and have no idea who's who. And since they're never all up at once I'm not even sure if all are alive. It's crazy.

Re: condensation

Do you have a hygrometer? There's actually no such thing as too humid. Could it be possible it's just water from one of his water bowls?

Re: Crab looks dead, out of shell

I've looked closer, and I believe the victim was newly molted, but I didn't know it. I usually get them to the iso tank in time. I was confused because the attacker took the victim's shell. I'm not sure what to do now. These two were my first crabs and I'm feeling very discouraged. I would apprecia...

When I had ants last week, I had to replace the substrate. I found so many shells underground! Some were rather deep so I think it’s deliberate.
Ungrateful creatures. :hlol: And we just keep buying them new shells.

Re: Sand? Plants? Heating?

Hello everyone! I have a 55 gallon aquarium housing 3 large hermit crabs. I’ve had the setup for a little over a year now and I’m planning on cleaning the tank very soon. Every year I usually refresh my knowledge on their care but I have found many different opinions/unanswered questions! As my cra...

Re: Tank cover and humidity

You can safely add an inch of substrate, playsand, which will eventually mix with the eco earth you have, every 24hrs, just don't pat ot down. Make sure it's mixed with dechlorinated fresh or saltwater to sandcastle consistancy. It needs to eventually be a minimum of 6inches or 3 times the height of...

Welcome to the wonderful addicting world of crabbing. I don't have time right now to answer all your questions. I'm sure someone else will. But check out the care guides on here. They have all the info you need.
