Re: Stole the green sand

Is this it? Espoma Greensand Soil Conditioner? They make organic too.... This is it. And I got it from here: https://crabstreetjournal.org/store/product/greensand-2/ Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk I don't...

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

Okay, but remember that they DO need air exchange. I fix that by making at least one of my water sources bubble pools (they either both are, or the MSW pool is a bubble pool and the fresh water source is a fountain); that way there is fresh air regularly moving into the tank, but it comes up throug...

Re: Actually building from scratch

A used aquarium will still be the best deal at that size. 225 and 250 (not actual size, they are listed a little higher than their actual gallons) were standard sizes and still float around local classifieds for a semi-decent price. Like JJ said, the other option is a plywood tank, but both wood an...

Re: Question For Those With Cats and Crabs

My dog likes to watch them sometimes. Personally, I think the glass lids might break. Better safe than sorry. Image

What dimensions are you thinking?
Just a dream. I would love a 200+ gal tank. But finances such as they are that won't happen for a long time.

Re: Net + UTH?

Are you putting the UTH inside the tank? Oe do you mean putting the netting on the wall where the UTH is placed on the outside? I was going to say it would be ok to place the netting there but I realized I have one of those decorative backgrounds with the UTH behind it. So I guess that wall might no...

Re: Fussy baby

I got them a hamster wheel! It's pink and everything! LOL I'm super excited to put it in! The problem is the angles of this tank. It's not square. That style makes a great betta tank, but not so much for hermies. Who knew they'd need a wheel? [emoji1787] I can't fit the wheel and both water bowls i...

Re: Actually building from scratch

If you're building an aquarium from scratch, it's more expensive than a traditional glass tank. People who build their own aquarium do so for aesthetics of using low iron glass that may be drilled, with internal filters, plumbing for sumps, I ternal overflow systems, etc. Low iron makes it look muc...

Re: Fussy baby

Yes, they can change shells very often. Like shopping for just the right pair of shoes. You should add things for them to climb on. They are also called tree climbers. And maybe add a hamster wheel to walk on. Crabs love that! They walk miles every night in the wild. Hermit crabs will walk on the wh...

Now that my crabs are bigger, it's kind of fun to see just how much Cuttlebone they can chew off! I swear Sonny ate half a surf-board when he came up from his last molt.
Or maybe he buried it. :hlol:

I've seen my little crabs stare down a larger crab or push them away. It's so funny.

Re: How much calcium is recommended?

Hey Pincher - I started using cuttlebones, do you grind up and keep some powder/mini chunks? And tiny sea shells?? They EAT them?? Many of us just stick the cuttlebone standing up in the ground. Do that gently in case of tunnels, caves. You can just lay it down. You can break it into chunks. You ca...
