Re: Adopted 2 HC that Have Lived in Conditions Opposite of Good for over a Year, and they seem fine. How Can that Be?

I know it's unbelievable. On one hand they are stressed very easily, and are highly suseptable to toxins, pesticides. On the other hand they are hardy. However, they may seem fine for now but only live for another couple of years due to the damage already done. But at least if you can give them the ...

Re: What should I do?

Thank you! I did. I only had to find the 2 new ones because the other one was eating and sleeping by the food dish this morning! I fixed their home up correctly and they seem very happy now! One took a bath and then they have been climbing all around and exploring! ❤️ Thank you so much for the repl...

Re: Buried

Hi. Welcome! As Landfishh said, you can add 1" of substrate every 24hrs. Just don't pat it down. You should add play sand since you already have the ee in there. The crabs will mix it up. First mix the sand with dechlorinated fresh water to sandcastle consistancy. If you squeeze it and it drips, it'...

Re: Upgrading to a more suitable home. My first real scapeing attempt.

I have a mesh lid and covered it with plexi glass. Works really well. But then you can't weave plants through it.

Re: What should I do?

When did they bury? If it's only been a day or so they probably haven't started molting. I would carefully dig them up. But have all ready to go wet playsand, sandcastle consistancy, mixed with eco earth. The bricks are less expensive. They take awhile to soak up the water. Make sure you wet this al...

Re: Hamster wheel, yes or no?

Definately! In the wild they walk miles every day. So a hamster wheel helps them get exercise. It takes them a while to figure it out but once they do they hardly come off. I've had crabs walking almost non stop for over 24hrs. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190214/25e4d4c8b6a02de47ea34441b5b878...

Re: 10 gal crab tank

Thanks @scuttlecrusty! How does that work with hermit crabs? Do you cover it in plastic to keep the humidity in? If you do a half one how to you cover the other part of the tank where a lid should be? Sorry I’m moving next week and was really hoping to upgrade from 10 gallon to a 20 gallon, but it’...

I have heard of a number of owners who had their crabs for 10+ years with only a few, like two or three.
Too bad they're so addicting.
