Re: Is this the next size up?

I got some of the ones that you suggested, boiled them this morning, and I just put them in the tank and boom! Here's the compulsive shell shopper on them in literally 2 minutes! (Off in the bottom left corner. In the first one, you can actually see her but in the second one her head is all the way...

Re: Is this the next size up?

That type of green turbo has an odd opening shape and is terribly heavy compared to other species. Most PPs won't like them. If you order again, try fluctuosus turbos, sometimes sold as striped or Mexican. They can be polished or unpolished, but are much lighter and the crabs really love them! I go...

Re: Is this the next size up?

They will pick what they want! They may change pants a few times! Be patient and observe! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Well, patience paid off and after 6 months and a molt, both Kaladin and Shallan have decided to have a go at the giant shells! They both fit way back into them but I guess t...

Awww! Poor little guy! I live in St. Louis, otherwise I would take him off of your hands. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you!

How did you do this?! I have a new 20g along with their old 10g and I would love to do this for my crabbies!

Re: My Humble Crabitat

Looks lovely! Almost anything is better than the pet store. The only thing is that you may want to make the substrate a little bit deeper. Love the name! How many do you have?

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Anybody else have a crab with a sweet tooth that stocks treats in their shell?! I swear my large, female crab prefers sweet foods over savory and I literally just saw her tuck a treat into her shell! Lol! What a goofy girl!

Yes, she got a dip in the distilled water first. It appears that they have all made friends overnight though because I found them all cuddling together in the hide this morning!

New crab, strange initiation to the crabitat?

Ok so I have had my 2 male/female similar sized (medium) hermits for about 2.5 years now and today I got a new baby female who is a micro-small and my original crabs seem to be greeting her by grabbing her by the shell and turning her around and around like they want her shell even though it's WAY t...

Re: Group activities?

I only have 2 crabbies, roughly the same size, and they are both on the same molt schedule, yes. They actually just came up after about 2.5 months of having pet sand. If you think about it, it kind of makes sense because they are pack/colony animals so it would make sense for the whole pack to molt ...

Re: How long?

Another Pic of my recently returned crabby eating some cuttlebone! Excuse the quality but he's my shy guy and if I had gotten any closer, he would have run away! I am just so happy to see him that I keep checking in on him! I actually squealed, "Crabby!" when I saw him above ground this morning! Mos...

Re: How long?

Kaladin finally emerged this morning and is so much bigger and PURPLE! He was usually my lighter one so I had to check the sex to identify him because he looked so different from when he went down! Here's a before and after comparison. First one is today! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200625/d7...

Re: They love poop

Well worm castings is on the food pyramid I think. Which is poop. I've ordered powdered guinea pig poop with other hermit crab food. Someone on our forum, or our facebook page, showed his crabs outside (he lives in warm, humid area), heading straight for the dog poop. And smearing it on their shell...

Re: They love poop

What is the purpose of it? Is it nutritional or a natural behavior because they are prey? How did think to start doing this?
