Thank God I didn't put it in. Any recommendations for a good brand?

Re: Substrate constantly dry?

I try to keep my humidity at around 80. I've only heard of the pencil test, so I'll be sure to try the squeeze test as well!

Re: Substrate constantly dry?

Are you wetting it so that if you squeeze it, it clumps together? How well covered is yoyr lid with saran wrap? I've had tanks dry out quickly, but after only a day it sounds like not enough moisture is being added to the substrate and you have a good humidity leak somewhere! Do you know what the h...

Re: Substrate constantly dry?

I added play sand when I first got the tank. Guess I have to put in more though. Thanks!

Substrate constantly dry?

No matter what I do the substrate becomes dry! I have eco Earth and I spray the tank/substrate multiple times a day. It gets so dry sometimes that I have to take everything out and spray the substrate thoroughly, but to no avail, as it just becomes dry again after a day or so. They mostly hang by th...

Re: Jute twine

Sounds good. How do you know whether or not a netting is safe to use in the tank?

Jute twine

I want to make some netting I could hang around the tank so my crabs have some more things to climb on, and hopefully something that I could wrap around some popsicle sticks/dowels to hold them together for a second level. Is this one okay? I don't want to order it and it ends up being a huge waste!...

Re: Constant shell fights

How many shells do you have? The HCA recommends 3-5 per crab. They also need to be the right type of shell. Please check the shell guide. (I’m on tapatalk ~ can’t figure out how to link on here- sorry!). Secondly- putting them into a container while you clean their tank would probably stress them o...

What to feed when out of town?

Hello! So, I'm almost always either visiting family or away from home, which is pretty bad!!! I used to just give them some extra food if it was a 1-2 day trip, but I hated the idea of old food in their tank. Up until recently I found these little mineral rocks to give them when I'm gone (found at P...

Constant shell fights

Okay well, the (pretty unfortunate) saga continues. I have two PPs I got a couple of months ago, and up until this point they were doing really fine together. Ham had gone down for a month and a half or two (still don't know if he was molting or just burrowing for a long time) and before that they s...

Re: Weird Crab behavior + crowded tank?

I only bathe them when I see the substrate wedged inside their shells and they haven't "shaken" it off for a while. It just frustrates me, but I'll minimize that.

And yes, I check to make sure it is sand castle consistency everyday :)

Thanks for the help!
