Re: Is this a flood??
Okay, I mixed it as good as I can and added some water. While I was going through it though I found clumps of dark brown or black stuff. It could have been just clumps of eco earth that never got mixed in, but to be safe I threw those bits out.

Re: Is this a flood??
It falls apart a little bit, but not completely.
I'm just worried about adding more to it. I was so worried about flooding. I can try though.

Re: Is this a flood??
I have filters in the tank. The turtle waterfall ones. I sometimes get condensation during the winter, but now I don't even need a humidifier. The sand isn't dripping wet, but it holds it's shape well. I tried squeezing it and nothing came out. I don't know if you can tell much from this but https:/...

Re: Is this a flood??
I looked again and the sand at the bottom was slightly darker, but it wasn't gray like that. I did notice that the glass on the bottom was slightly moist, but it wasn't a pool of water.

Re: Is this a flood??
Yeah, there hasn't been any weird smells. I don't know about it being gray. It looks like the color it usually is.

Re: Is this a flood??
I'm worried about adding more water to it now. I'm just so freaked out after losing half of my crabs to whatever the problem is.

There's still no water pooling, so I don't know what to think.

Re: Is this a flood??
I made a hole in the sand. It doesn't look like there's going to be water, but we'll see. Yeah, in the summer I don't need a humidifier, but during the winter I do and it and the temperature go all over the place. So some times I end up turning it up so high that the whole thing's filled with fog, b...

Re: Is this a flood??
Yeah, they get that too. I have a calcium powder and there are shells that have holes in them that they've been eating. And I've given them egg shells in the past, but not recently.
The sand felt hard and heavy. It was sandcastle consistency when I first put it in.

Re: The tank went down to 60 degrees!!!
They seem to still be okay. All of them (except Georgette, who's still underground) are acting pretty normal, so I assume they aren't going to get sick.

Re: The tank went down to 60 degrees!!!
It's already up to regular temperatures and the humidity went back down to around 80. I'm just really concerned about them getting sick from it getting that low at all. But you think they'll be okay? The humidity was stable around 80 when I left, but I think it started getting really humid after the...

The tank went down to 60 degrees!!!
I went to my grandma's for...I guess it was about 50 hours and we just got back today. And of course I see that the tank went down to 60 degrees and the humidity was at 93 I think. It turns out that the thermostat stopped working. I rushed around and found a new one and everything is fine now. I'm j...

Re: Help! New Crab Owner
I would get Reflectix too. It's an insulator and you put it on the back of the tank, over the heating pads. I know I had a really tough time keeping the tank warm in the winter before I got that.
