Re: hermit crab not eating or moving much

I am curious too, what is the hydrogel? I’m not trying to be negative, I’ve just never heard of it, just wondering what it is. I don’t think I’ve heard of any other hermit owners using it so it may not be safe.

Re: In Need of Opinion on Misting/Humidity and Lid Selection

Agree with above posts, a lot of great advice above, getting a glass lid will really help your humidity. Setting up following our recommended guidelines will make it so much easier for you. Sealed lid, 5:1 ratio of play sand to coco fiber, sandcastle consistency, with a good brand heat mat covering ...

Don’t know what to do with heat mats?

I have an 11x35 that I use on my 40gallon that may work for you, winter months you may need to add an extra heat mat on the side, depending on how cold your house gets. I added a smaller one(can’t remember exact size right now) just to make sure I had the heat if I needed it and it ended up working ...

Re: Pictures For Instagram

I’d love to help more as well. I have a lot of pictures I could go through, I’ve been getting pretty lucky and have quite a few good pictures of my crew.

Water Quality tester.

I know I looked into this when I started my pools, I think both the freshwater and saltwater kits are the same testing stuff, just the cards are different. Like Wode said the ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite are most important. I have a terrible memory but it was cheaper to just get the three separate ...

Using Prime Dechlorinator in Small Amounts

My opinion prime is the best, a lot of people use it. It is two drops per gallon.

Edit to add: I get the smaller 50ml/1.7floz bottles bc of the way the top is, you can do the drops easier. Image

So cute! I love how they flip, roll, and pick at them. Such a great enrichment for them.

Strawberry Hermit Crab (Coenobita perlatus)

Yes you make such a good point. I’m definitely gonna be adopting some pp’s on Thursday. But yeah the plan was to get those and raise them and gain experience because like you said I would be absolutely devastated if I got a strawberry and something happened [emoji31] and I’m sorry to hear about you...

Re: Strawberry Hermit Crab (Coenobita perlatus)

I was watching a YouTube video about crabcon I really really want to go! Hopefully crabcon2021 will happen and all this corona virus is gone. I hope so too. I’m so heartbroken to not be actually able to go this year. Do you have the info for the online CrabCon 2020? We are having all the talks onli...

Strawberry Hermit Crab (Coenobita perlatus)

The suspected baby violas came form my crabs, Mary and I met up so she could raise them, I knew their best possible chance would be with her. We haven’t really figured out what we’re doing with them and how many we get for number of actual crabs, I am leaving the bigger stuff to her decision bc she ...

More eggs!

Grats! Keep us posted! I keep wondering when I'll get a spawn. I have no idea how many of my crabs are males / females in my tank but with 7 crabs I figure it will probably happen eventually! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk Thank you everyone! Yeah it’ll happen or if it hasn’t happened and you...

More eggs!

I was peeking in on my crew at about 2am (Friday) and I saw my little Crabina moving in and out of her shell, kinda messing around so I decided to pull her out and check her bc my largest male has been bothering all of my little females, plus the spawning in the salt pool that happened in May. I’m t...
