Re: Covers for your Tank.

I have a screen lid, and covering that is a double layer of cardboard, wrapped in foil, wrapped in a beach pattern fabric so it looks pretty, and then wrapped in thick clear plastic to protect from moisture and my cats. Helps to hold both heat and humidity in the tank, and it's a little puffy so it...

What is that white climbing grid called?

Hi, I’m beginning a tank upgrade. I love that whit e plastic grid I see in the background of so many tanks. What is that stuff called? I have “crafting mesh” but that’s not as sturdy. Also, how do you attach the sturdy white grid to the tank? Thanks for the input! It’s called egg crate light diffus...

Here you go- I hope I did this right, but here’s the vid of my E having a fit over being messed with this day. Funny how mad he is but a great example of a chirp I think!

Re: First shell change is crab not happy?

My sister had a coworker who had hermit crabs at work (it was a vet clinic, so animals were okay, LOL). One of the crabs there picked up a shell and yelled at it for about an hour one day. It was one of the only times they ever heard the crabs chirp. I can't remember if the crab ended up changing i...

Re: Amethyst for Decoration?

Ooooh I love this idea. As far as my knowledge of gemstones goes, amethyst is a pretty stable structure and therefore inert. (I worked in jewelry for years.) As long as you don’t mind the stones getting worn etc, I think that’s fantastic, and would love to see it! [emoji3590]Dave the Wondercrab~Pat~...

Soooo- it was definitely safety glass! Yeah... the instant it made it to the other side of the glass and punched out that piece the glass broke. Regrouping and pouring in a floor. More info to come. Re: How long do you keep your heater on?

Yep- all the time basically. Adding a thermostat ASAP too- it’s just simpler than the constant monitoring that requires. Our power went out the other day and I covered all my tanks immediately (one is a tote for the moment) but they all still dropped to 73/75 over the next hour or so. [emoji15] I wa...

So as some of you may remember I found a wonderful 72 gallon bowfront, with a stand, for a good price a while back. The stand was practically falling apart, just staples and a few nails and not sturdy... so we fixed it! We reinforced it with 2x4 lumber, painted it, added door pulls (sea glass) and l...

Re: Mixing crabs???

But if you would like to get one, anything can serve as a temporary iso, really. Rubbermaid totes or boxes; as long as you get in them once a day they should be fine, or otherwise make holes. Boycotting the industry would be great, but it’s impossible to do completely and still keep crabs. Don’t let...
