I was lucky enough to adopt my pretty guy, and it really is incredibly rare for any store to have them. As I understand it, some exotic pet shops will get them in either on their own or specifically for someone occasionally, which is where my guy cane from originally. I am having a very hard time fi...

Re: ID confirmation

They look like PP to me. Your lighter one reminds me of my Dave, he’s about that shade as well, even freshly molted. [emoji16] Congrats on the adoptees!

Crabs aren't digging

Most of us use basic playsand, it’s less than $5/50lb of sand. The quickrete is filtered so it is all uniform and will mix smoothly, this is why you are seeing the dust as all the particles are going to be more fine grit. I have a pic of what I use. Hang on and I’ll share! Dave the Wondercrab~Pat~Ma...

Re: Stole the green sand

Greensand is a definite favorite, I offer some with almost every feeding, as well as worm castings- their second favorite love! These are also easy to find and order if you don’t have some yet. It’s like they can never get enough! Dave the Wondercrab~Pat~Maggie~ Billy~Pop~Corn~Ten~Sam~MissTeri~Tim~G...

Adding a new crab...

That is correct- different sizes can cut back on shell fights and just general competitiveness. I put one of my smallest with one of my large crabs, and they’re like, idk, almost inseparable! Little Gene is like big Barry’s own personal helicopter parent! [emoji1787] So sometimes different sizes wor...

Re: Do I handle my crabs too much

I’m aware this is an older question, but I wanted to weigh in too. [emoji6] And coming from someone on the other side of the fence- I do handle my crabs. Some more often than others bc they don’t seem to mind and some definitely enjoy being out and interacting. However, most of the time it’s a brief...

Ok I’m going to try to address your questions as I get to them, they’ll be written after the OKT. You’re doing awesome and I’m sorry you didn’t receive more responses before today! I haven’t moved cross country per se, but on short notice had to move some from a friends 8 hours away, and some others...

Re: Creepy crabs......

At a guess, they’re all just comfortable not being hidden and are resting? Yeah it’s definitely kinda weird tho! I do wish I knew what they were ‘thinking’ sometimes!!

What are your crabs up to?

The first is Princess enjoying a snack while being stalked by Mr. EnDoh. [emoji6] The second is Corn, who just came up from molt today- she’s super vibrant where her color shows and always keeps lighter tips. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190909/0498a308362d41a94097083062a89782.jpg https://uplo...

Re: moving with molting crabs

What they said; I recently had to move some crabs myself, and we used a tote with an inch or two of sand, not much, but enough, with some moss and munchies, the water bowls present but empty til we got done in the car. We did have to dig a molter up- well, two actually! (Long story) What they said i...

Re: My crab has scratchy black spots on it.

Hi there! First, I’m sorry you’re juggling sick crabs. Second, from looking at the second and third crab’s picture, I would say that almost definitely the second crab is infected, and probably the 3rd as well. As mentioned above, if they’re all infected you may not need to iso them all until you beg...

Re: What is your crabs favorite food?

Mine love- in all 5 tats- this stuff called Fiesta Fruit Salad. I can’t recall which seller I purchased from on Etsy, but there are a ton of items to check out on there. But that one is by far the #1- I need to reorder actually so I’ll let you know from whom when I find it! Others are dried burning ...

Re: Crabs barricading opening

Looks like you have some super adorable PPs! I love when they’re so tiny and sweet. I have them that size all the way up to Jumbo now, including 3 different species, and I still can’t get enough of them! They’re sooo addicting! There’s always something to improve and work on for them, I just love ev...

Crabs barricading opening

No, if they decide to hang out underground for a while it could be to molt, which they do usually need to do soon after coming home, or it could be to destress. This just means that although they are very glad to be in their new home with the things they need, they also need to be left alone to reco...

Re: How often can you change the “furniture” in your crabitat?

Mostly depends on the crabs, totally agree there. Because they are all so different it really will vary. I’d just watch their reaction after a big change and get an idea who loves it and who doesn’t, who is curious and who runs away to hide! You know what I’m saying here I think. I have some crabs w...
