Re: Need to move tank but has 2 molters

When you say counters, do you mean counter tops? Will they be using adhesive? I just recently had countertops installed in my kitchen and the fumes were incredible. I put towels over my tanks which were in the next room. During this break, they are only taking measurements apparently (just learned ...

Re: Need to move tank but has 2 molters

You may want to add a note to the extension cord...... Especially if they will be doing work while you are not there. Contractor's and builders are well known to unplug whatever they want to plug in their equipment instead.... And maybe a sign that says "Live Animals" so they don't knock into the t...

Re: Need to move tank but has 2 molters

Thank you for all your responses. We have avoided moving my tank. One of my students brought me a super long cord that also has 3 plugs. The workers will be replacing the countertops over a few days so I'm just going to change the extension cord today so no one will be unplugging it even for a few h...

Can you run an extension cord?
We don't have an extension cord long enough that also has enough outlets (3) to heat all uths (2 to cover the back above substrate and 1 on the side). With the longest cord we could find we would still have to move it like 6 feet.

Need to move tank but has 2 molters

Hello! I need to move my tank because my classroom is having some work done in the corner where my heaters are plugged, they would need to be unplugged while people work. I need to move my tank to the other side of the room (15 feet), so that I can plug in the tank. But I have 2 down that are moltin...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

I spent 5 days thinking one of my crabs was in the coconut hut and was scared because he hadn't moved at all. Today he turned up in a different spot in the tank. Apparently I had spent 5 days thinking the empty similar colored shell was him. I have no clue where he actually was.

Re: Florida Vacation

Sponges aren't recommended, according to all the care sheets. They tend to breed bacteria, especially since you won't be able to check on the sponges when you're gone.

Re: Mesh for pools

Thanks everyone! I took out that mesh. I got the craft mesh from Joann’s. I’m going to put together the pools tomorrow. For tonight they had little pools, the ones that are sold as hermit crab bowls but are too shallow. It is just one night then they will get new pools tomorrow morning!

Re: Mesh for pools

I never heard of anyone using that stuff. I personally wouldn't use that stuff. I believe a bored crab would probably pick that to shreds in no time. It would make a huge mess it clean up in the tank plus they may try to eat it too. Thank you! I took it out and I’ll get a hold of the normal stiff p...

Mesh for pools

Hello!

I put together my pool. I used those mesh non-slip grip mats that you use for under your dish rack or to line your cabinets so your plates don't slip. Should those be fine? Are they safe?

Wait are you mixing the EE and sand together or are they separate in the tank like half and half?

Re: What are your crabs up to?

So I have an little round terrarium within my tank filled with moss. Thanos loves it and is basically always there. But now he is currently pushing all the moss out and is almost upside down in it. He is spreadeagled in there, like all his limbs are open. It is good to see him active after Das died ...

Re: Crab possibly dying, what to do?

Thank you for all your help! Das Krabbe died this morning. He was a good crab and before this seemed fine (moving around, eating, etc.). But there was a very clear smell. Thanos is alone on but seems fine. Thanks again!

Re: 2 hermies, San Jose CA

Hello! I'm in Oakland and I'm interested in your little guys. How big are they? I only have a 10 g tank with one small crab so I would want tiny guys. Also would you need me to take the tank? I don't have the space right now for a 40g one so I couldn't take that. If you would like the crabs and the ...
