Re: crabs eating each other

GREAT NEWS! chip came up, and he has all his limbs! right on time, too. he was molting for 3 weeks, which is his normal molt time!
the claw i found must have been from shadow, though it seemed too big... must have been an exo from another molter.

he came up the day before my birthday, so woohoo!

no, i keep the food in all the time. in fact, before i fund the possible remains of chip, acorn ate a big ol' plate of sliced carrots.

crabs eating each other

hi. i have been on this forum for a while now, so i am confident that i have the conditions right in my crabitat. I have had my hermies for over a year now. my substrate is 5 inches deep, but i noticed my largest crab digging a lot after his molt. my smallest crab has just gone down for a molt. late...

also, I am upgrading to a 20 gal tall as soon as acorn gets up, with 7 inches of sand/eco earth mix. I will also get a new heat mat.

Re: My crab keeps digging up a molter.

goodgoodgoodgoodgood

undyed coral works good for calcium, as does cuttlebone.
both are cheap and can be found at most pet stores. also, make sure to have at least 2 hides

good luck!

how long?

my medium sized crab, acorn, has been under for a month now. starting to worry a bit, since my hermies arnt the most reliable molters (rip shadow, mango, salty, and salsa.) yeah, I have had a LOT of molters die underround, wheather from being eaten or having their tunnels collapse FOR NO APPERENT RE...
