Re: Do hamster wheels have to be plastic?

That's awesome Kydra! I finally took mine down. It did spin freely and was silent after all my efforts but not one of my 7 decided to give it a go. I'll put it back up in the spring and hopefully they'll be comfortable enough to check out the 'new' gizmo....they should be used to my interference by...

Re: Happy Acorn

I was peeling a few acorns that had cracks to see if they were insect free when I came upon this.... Ok, so it's not Elvis or the Virgin Mary, but it made me smile. Thought I'd share... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191114/17e42c9e7b38d517db24b242b4c452f0.jpg Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapata...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

He is a strawberry! And thank you. We think ‘he’ at least. This is the fella that escaped at his original owners home just before I adopted his colony, and was found in their basement 6 weeks later! It’s a total mystery but I was able to meet with the guy and pick this one up too. [emoji3059] We ar...

Re: The Hermit Crab Patch food?

They have wonderful food, and my crabs enjoy everything I’ve ordered from there too! Just placed an order with HermitGrub on Etsy, as did RiNiKy and it was a great experience for both of us and my crabs absolutely killed the two new ones I offered them! So they’re worth a look too. Prices are also ...

Re: Hermit crab digging after molt very unusual for crab

Since Hermy already molted, it's likely she's just destressing from being shuffled around a bit. I wouldn't be too concerned. I rescued my small crab Petunia in Aug and she went under the day I got her. I didn't see her again for 7 weeks. I just wish when I was stressed I could hide under my covers ...

Re: The Hermit Crab Patch food?

Just wanted to mention that I've ordered from THCP twice now, and my crabs and I have been super happy with their food! The customer service is excellent, and the crabs really seem to love their soil supplement and ground popcorn. The shipping is fast too. [emoji106][emoji16][emoji171] Sent from my ...

Re: Crabby Climber

I love your bridge, it turned out great! I think as long as you keep something heavy on top of your lid, you will be fine. A lot of people keep the screen lids (covered to hold humidity) bc they like to let their crabs climb up on the lid. Hermit crabs can get just about anywhere they want to, I’ve...

Re: Crabby Climber

Is there a way to keep the net from molding? Mine kept getting moldy and saltwater soaking did not help so I gave up on using it. I actually made my own using jute twine. I like to crochet, so I just crocheted mine with twine instead of yarn. I've been lucky and haven't had a problem with it moldin...

Re: 3 crabs need a good home

Hello, I am looking for a rescue group for my hermit crabs to be rehomed. They are not happy. I can’t get it humid or warm enough in their crabitat. I thought I was “rescuing” them from the jersey shore and petco, and I built them an amazing crabitat (salt water, fresh water, food, sponges, moss, c...

Re: Crab burried shell and all

We got two new crab friends for our 1st hermit crab. The first night, one of the new ones buried himself shell and all. Is he molting or getting ready to molt? or just hiding? Hi! [emoji16] Since he's new, there could be a couple of options. If he never had the chance to molt (not kept in the prope...

[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] She truly is a big big girl. I hope I get to enjoy a lot of years with her. My sons and I have talked about ‘using her’ for some local Hermie awareness stuff, like setting up a table at local events, and when the weather/temp allow us, we want to have her there as ...
