Go Bestfriend Thats My Bestfriend

Do you ever see any of your hermies always sticking by a certain buddy? I always see these two together. All day they were following one another around the coconut hut and climbing. Now they are eating next to eachother. In the brown shell is Whatacrab and the white pearl shell is Davy Jones (I thin...

Re: Red Eyes

My pp Grapefruit pictured here. The first thing I noticed when I brought him, Blackbean and Santa Claws home was that their eyes were these two little black dots with red outlines. Compared to my other pp’s their eyes are not like this. Also I purchased them from a different shop soooo. https://uplo...

Re: Crabs can smell?

Yes, hermit crabs use their sense of smell to find food. I don’t have any numbers for other species but Ecuadorians are able to smell food up to five meters away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I don’t know why I didn’t take it into realization that they could smell haha. I guess it’s because w...

Crabs can smell?

Uhhhhhh so i’ve noticed that when it’s time for feeding time there might be 1-3 visible crabs out of the 10 I have. As soon as I place fresh food inside the bowls all of my crabs swarm out of hiding and all of them scurry into the bowls. They can smell? I had no idea. I don’t know how else they coul...

Re: Found Shell But No Crab

I would not dig. If there had been a crab in there are it's not anymore, digging isn't really going to give you any additional information, and it is doubtful that there is a crab in distress that needs help. You risk injuring other crabs who are under, if you dig. How big is your tank? 75 gal Sent...

Found Shell But No Crab

Sooooo the majority of my crabs have all been under since January. For the longest I only had 2 crabs out instead of all 10. One by one they’re surfacing and currently from what I can tell is 4-6 are out right now and not burrowed. Though I did have one of my larger hermies re-surface about 2 weeks ...

3rd molter came up

Over the last 3-4 weeks i’ve had 3 crabs come up from a molt so it’s exciting! I have 10 and when I got them all they were all up and out and no one was burrowed. Since January all of my crabs except 2 have been burrowed. I went from seeing 10 crabs all the time to only seeing 2 crabs up and out ): ...

Crab does weird position

I have only seen my female hermit crab do this and i’m not sure why or if it means anything but yeah she’s the only crab of mine that i’ve seen do this. Basically will turn her shell upside down almost and twist her body out of it from what it looks like in my opinion.. does it mean anything or is s...

Re: Lethargic Crabs

okok I may have bumped the humidity up to 73% i misted some of the stuff in the tank that supposedly help with keeping humidity levels high. one of the crabs left the heat pad after being there for hours.

Lethargic Crabs

Hey guys I upgraded from a 40gal to a 75gal a couple months ago and I wasn’t having any humidity problems until now. When the weather was colder my parents kept our home on heat and now that it’s getting hot my parents cranked the AC down so it’s a lot cooler in the house now. I’ve noticed that my h...

Added Climbing Vines!

I finally jumped on the wave and added some reptile vines to the crabitat. There wasn’t much decor I could add inside my 75g besides the vines. I love how it made my crabitat POP and it gives off cute tropical vibes. I will definitely be adding more vines eventually all over the walls. I already had...

Q about IO

I bought some instant ocean sea salt back in December and have been using that for the salt water pool. I asked my dad to help me with the directions but i’m still not sure if he’s correct because he knows nothing about crabs or “specific gravity”. I honestly don’t know what specific gravity means e...
