Re: Would a UVB light help kill mold

No, the mold is caused by the high humidity inside the crabitat and bacteria on the moldy items. If you were to add live plants or grow chia inside your crabitat the UVB build would possibly help with them growing. This presentation by Courtney Iris Karr (BioactiveFX1) has a section on UVB lighting...

Would a UVB light help kill mold

Would a UVB help kill mold? I was thinking it might be nice to add to the crabitat if that is true.

Re: Just some pics of my sherbert

Gosh these guys are complicated. Lol I love them! Wait so does that mean if you spot gonospores on a crab it’s a girl forever even though it might lose them later on?

Re: Just some pics of my sherbert

Thank you. [emoji3526] They are addicting to want all of them. [emoji6] The more rare species are harder to keep and I’ve had some heartbreak losing a couple of Es and straws. They can’t take moving and temperature changes like the purple pinchers. Then again they’re all so tough yet so fragile, it...

Show me your water pools

Ok, I know this was already a topic thought mine is a bit different. I am wondering what you use for pools if your crabs use them, how often you have to clean them, and if possible pics. I have a 90 gallon and am thinking about updrading my pools as my largest crab can not really submerge any more. ...

Re: can someone help me find the right shell?

I have done some research and found a couple websites I can potentially get some shells from. The thing is these things are expensive and the last time I bought shells that said 2" (I thought that was the opening sizes) they were actually 2" for the whole shell. way too small. again, these things a...

Is this safe?

Is matcha powder, acai powder, goji berry, and organic beets and mushroom ok for the crabs? You can get all of this at your local Walmart and they come in bags in the baking section I believe. They seem ok but want another opinion.

Re: New tank set up/question

Is your sub a 5:1 ratio? I am just wondering as I was unable to calculate an exact 5:1 ratio for my 90 gallon and wanna know if that is what it looks like?

Re: How much sub to buy?

I'm trying to estimate how many pounds of sand and bricks of EE I'll need to fill a new 75 gallon tank. I do have the very compacted sub in my current 40B that I'm going to transfer. How much more would you estimate that I'll need? What is the current ratio of sand to EE? Thanks!! I have a 90 gallo...

Re: Sanitising decor tank etc

I have a very similar crab-keeping style to curlysister. I don't do much tank maintenance at all. I've had the same sub in my tank since 2010. I have added more to it. I'm getting ready to go from a 40B to a 75, so I'll be mixing a lot more sub, but I don't plan on "sterilizing" any of the decor. I...

Re: Snake shed?

I've been looking for some ways to add some calcium to my crabs diet and thanks to my snakes I have a large amount of shed skin just laying around. I already feed it to my isopods for calcium so I was wondering if the crabs can eat it too. Yes, I think it should be safe. As long as the substrate is...
