A simple soak will do if you don’t want to risk a rolling boil.

Ok, that sounds good. I will eventually wash all cholla wood as well with the salt water and make a day out of it. Thanks.

Re: Hello! I'm new and looking forward to adopting my hermies!

Looks amazing!! That is probably one of the best starter setups I have seen. That is so awesome. I do have a recommendation though, in the pic it looks like the moss pit is a little over the water dish? That is completely fine, but my crabs tend to knock out their moss all over the place, as well as...

Re: Do I have enough room?

I feel like my crabs started digging tunnels like crazy right before they went under to molt. I personally wouldn’t assume overcrowding...since some crabs just like to dig. I was the OP on another related post and didn’t know what to do with the tunnels left behind, lol. My main digger, Turbo, came...

Do I have enough room?

I have a 90 gallon aquarium with about 8 to 9 inches of substrate. I have 12 PPs. 1 small and all the other ones range on the medium side, and one seems to be a small large or a large medium. I am wondering if I should be worried about overcrowding. My one crab keeps digging little holes right along...

Re: Guidelines on tunnels

I know this is an older topic but I recently noticed my crab doing that exact same thing and is continuing to do it near the glass on top of cholla wood and the chia garden. Sherbert the one who is doing it completely destroyed the chia garden trying to find a spot as the chia garden is in a buried ...

Mold

I have 3 hay woven products for reptiles that I use for the crabs. I have two natural woven hay looking hammocks from Petco and a hay loocking woven climbable background with fake vine plants to add a more natural look. Anyway the backdrop is molding on the bottom by the looks of it. It has already ...

Re: New crab charging at others

I had a problem like this as well so I did the dunk thing...dunked each one of them (even the ones that had been in there for a while, not just the newbies) in the freshwater pool. It worked immediately and there have been no issues since! Hoping the same for you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk...

Re: New crab charging at others

Most crabs can figure out their pecking order on their own, but yes can kill each other if not provided what they need, such as shells, variety in diet etc. If it were me I would just make sure I offer extra shells, and extra hideouts so the other crab can get away, and some extra meats like beef, c...

Re: What camera should I get?

I personally have a Wyze Cam, the original version. It was only $25 at Petsmart and it does the trick! Night vision works well enough for me. You’ll download an app with it and the free version will allow 12 seconds of video every 5 minutes when triggered by movement. You can get a SIM card though ...

What camera should I get?

I know some crabbers who have cameras and I would like to eventually get one to watch the crabs at night. What do people use? Also I have WiFi but its slow. Again I have no idea what to get camera wise and what will work.

Re: Water activity

I personally have seen them sticking toes in but that is it!! They have fallen in once in a great while but, again that's all they do. Though someone did mention a great point crabs are most active at night and could possibly be sneaking at night. Oh also I do not have bubbler or a heater.

Re: Crab dominancy and rolling their shells in food

Hmm, the "food rolling" is new to me. I've never seen it before in my tank, definitely odd. And with the pecking order, yes, I have an order in my tank too. Pine is most dominant and usually gets to the food first, claims shells first, ect. Dominancy can be normal. I haven't knoticed a pecking orde...
