Some kind of beetle in cage?

Found a single beetle inside of crabitat. Haven't dug around much to find anymore yet, should I be concerned? Could there be more? Do I have an infestation, or did it somehow(idk how) get inside of the cage itself?

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

I kept a day to day log of his accomplishments and improvements. I got the idea from the examples of other members with attacks crabs. I thought I was gonna need a lot more paper lol, those stories went as long as almost a year! It's only been about a month though since he was attacked and put in is...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

Update! Tiny is doing amazing, he has just finished with a recent molt and seems to have his big claw back, as well as most of his legs! Thank you everyone for all help and advice, he and myself greatly appreciate it and could not have done it without the support. I will try to post a picture soon

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

Also we just ordered a bunch of stuff from Hermie's Kitchen so hopefully him and the rest of our lovelies will enjoy that stuff. Ordered the 40 sample pack and some other stuff specifically for our injured guy. I will keep everyone updated as things happen of course!

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

Quick update! Tiny is doing well, has been able to eat and get water on his own. I had a wyze cam on the way in the mail when the incident happened so I now have that setup on his home. Today he tried to bury himself. However he was only able to make somewhat of a dent in the substrate for himself. ...

Re: Hermit Crab lost 2 legs

I was too lazy to read everything so I'm sorry if someone has already said this, however you can get like a 30 pound bag of playsand from somewhere like Menards or Home depot for literally 3-5 dollars. That is what I ended up using and it works so much better than the stuff I used to buy from Petsma...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

What happened to him stinks and I wish u the best. Please do consider the size of your tank versus the amount of crabs like riniky506 has mentioned. That is why these things tend to happen. Wouldn’t want this to be an ongoing issue where you wind up having something worse come from it. We are all j...

Re: Party in the coconut hut…?

When I purchased my coconut hut, by the end of the day there was at least 6 in the dang thing. Maybe even one more but it gets a little hard to count, especially when the 3 biggest were some of the ones in there. They were in there stacked to the roof, and keep in mind I have plenty of other shelter...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

Making some progress today, he starting walking around a little while we were asleep. I placed him on his food dish and watched him munch away, and then slowly walk over to his water and fill up. Keep in mind not once did he make an effort to move yesterday; so either he has gotten more comfortable,...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

I hope with the q tip feeding multiple times a day with protein, calcium, and honey your crab should be fine. If he's in an iso he should molt soon and regrow the limbs. It will take a lot of time, but with the appropriate amount of sub the crab could be another example of a success story. Sent fro...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

My heart goes out to you and your little hermie! He seems strong; I think he'll pull through! Do update when you can, possibly add a picture. He sounds like a sweet boy. Make sure to dip him in water before returning him to the regular tank, which I would assume not for a while, just because he doe...

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

Motor crab also fed a crab who had dropped it's limbs, if you search you should be able to find the thread. Are all of your surviving surface molters now isolated from the other crabs? Yes all the others are in a separate iso tank as well. I just got done hand feeding with a Q-tip again and he ate ...
