Re: MANGO WONT STAY IN A SHELL. HELP!

Definitely post purchase syndrome. If he was already lethargic before you got him then there's not much you can do. Your tank looks good overall so I'd just give him time, make sure he has lots of extra shells to choose from. I wouldn't try reshelling him since you already did and it will just stres...

Re: Im new to this forum (am i doing things right)

I am newish to hermit crabs. I have 2 purple pinchers currently, Bingo (M) & Charolette (F). Bingo is a bit bigger than large, and Charolette is large (They are both molting right now). They are in a 20 gallon long. I have sand in there now, but I am going to move to EE. I have...

Re: Yeast?

Hi, just wondering if it's OK to feed my crabs dry yeast? I don't think that it would harm them, but it wouldn't really do much for their diet. It does have vitamin b but it would be a lot easier to just stick with veggies, protein (some meats, bugs, nuts, ect.), and a calcium source. Yeast won't r...

Re: 1 crab in MD needs a new home

Boys down the street passed along a hermit crab to my nephew and he is not interested in the sweet little critter. I am seeking a home for the crab where it will be nurtured and well cared for. We are in the Silver Spring/Rockville area and can deliver -- from a safe distance! Contact: crr@pipeline...

Re: My ~10gal crabitat. What do you think?

It looks pretty good overall, just a few minor corrections to be made. I agree with adding more hiding places, also make sure to add some more calcium and protein to their diet. I can't how many shells are there but just in case you don't know, 3-5 extra per crab. I tried to zoom in on the terminato...

Re: Is this the end for my Stella?

The second UTH arrived today. I mounted it to the opposite side of the enclosure from where the first one is. It has been an hour since installation and after spraying down the enclosure, Humidity is up near 90% and Temperature is stable in the low 70's. Both mats are on one end of the tank so she ...

Snake shed?

I've been looking for some ways to add some calcium to my crabs diet and thanks to my snakes I have a large amount of shed skin just laying around. I already feed it to my isopods for calcium so I was wondering if the crabs can eat it too.

Re: Tank topper lids

It really depends on your tank setups. if you don't use heat lamps then it one way to do it is to just put the 10 on top then use saran wrap, foil, or boxing tape as the lid to the other side (that's what I did to make a topper for my 30 gallon when I still used that). The only problem is then makin...

FJ, what ingredients in those foods do you consider harmful?
I have an old jar of that stuff from a few years ago when a friend unknowingly gifted me some. They have Propionic Acid, Ethoxquin, and Tocopherols which are all types of preservatives.

Re: Is this the end for my Stella?

Hey guys, So she is still laying down in the same spot. It does not smell any different than it has. The ceramic heater is approximately 12" above where she is (it's been more or less in the same spot even when she was still walking around) Murky- The current method for keeping humidity up is just ...

It could be color morphs (not uncommon in isopods) or just one that shed it's skin recently.

Re: I can’t find Tiny!

Probably buried himself. I have 5 in a 65 gallon and sometimes I can't even find the larger ones' burrows! As long as your sure that the tank is escape-proof then I wouldn't worry :)
