Possibe tank build

I am looking at possibly building my own tank or at least joining a couple tanks. Is there a caulk or sealant that won't harm my crabbies?

Hot glue

Hey all! I was just wondering if it is ok to use hot glue to fabricate some things for the crabitat(climbing stuff, etc)?

Re: Worried

How deep is your substrate? Your crabs seem pretty small, so depending on how much the things weigh/how big they are, you might've collapsed a tunnel if they made one. Do you have a few pictures of the tank currently and the stuff you added? Should I dig him out? My substrate is about 4-6 inches de...

Worried

I bought some upgrades for my crabitat. As i don't live full time at my gf's i sent the stuff with her to put in the tank. The one thing i forgot to tell her was to not add anything if a crab is buried. She went home and added the upgrades (which required some digging). Now i am worried that because...

Re: New crabber

You can completely seal the lid. They will get oxygen when you feed them. Humidity is so important. They have modified gills and need it to breath. The correctly moistened substrate helps maintain humidity. And visa versa. If the substrate dries out their tunnels and caves can collapse. I remoisten...

Rearranged my crabitat

This is a continuation of my new crabber post. I took your suggestions and applied them to the tank. I added more cocohusk and mixed it with the sand. I got some more climby stuff and a hidey area. I got a deeper dish for the saltwater so they can submerge. Here's pics of the new set up. The last pi...

Re: New crabber

Is your lid sealed? I can't imagine the humidity is that high unless you live in a very humid area. You can completely seal the lid with saran wrap and tape with packing tape. If you are using analog gauges they are often unreliable. Most of is use digital gauges like Acurite. The substrate was qui...

Re: New crabber

My tank is 80⁰F and 80% humidity. It is a screen lid on the tank. The sand came with the tank. It was a starter kit that had the sand and cocofiber in it. I have lots of fiber left to mix and add to it. I use bottled dechlorinated water and i have aquarium salt that i mix. I hope i didnt miss any of...
