Group activities?

I have a kind of strange questions.....do anyone else's crabs do things as a group? Like burying? Or is it a coincidence? I have 9 small to upper end medium crabs in a 50 gallon crabitat. It seems like either EVERYONE is up, or they're all down, and I have a pet tank of sand and decor. 3 days ago, t...

Re: Ideas for decor?

I love your tank set up! I would add more fake plants! I have fake succulents in mine that look nice. What type of cameras do you have and are they in the tank? They are the Wyze HD from Amazon. Yes, they are inside, I found suction cup soap dishes and velcro them on. :) Sent from my SM-G975U using...

Re: Ideas for decor?

I took your advice on the greenery, and you were 100% right! Not only does it improve the tank visually, but my crabs are out a lot more! Thank you! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200624/46e337913bc099443a3d96105f33c7a6.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200624/cd7749795a750aebc2cf8197a72f79...

Ideas for decor?

Good morning! I spent ALL of yesterday excavating sugar ants out of my 40 gallon crabitat (and muttering some choice words) Luckily, I stopped seeing ants about 3 inches down, and I didn't encounter any of my 3 that are down. (Whew!!!) Since I had to be down to bare sub, I took the opportunity to co...

Re: Big holes in sub

Perfect, thanks! I'll probably fill the hole under the bonzai so it doesn't take a tumble with crabs on it lol

Big holes in sub

Hey all! I'm back again for another episode of 'Jen has a dumb question'! Today's dumb question is this: there are 3 big, open holes in my 40 gallon tank. Do these happen when they come up? I've never noticed open holes when they dig in. They seem to close them up behind themselves. Next dumb questi...

Cleaning/moving moss pit

Hey there everyone! Sorry to be a pest with all the questions, but >shocker< I have another one! I have 10 crabs in a 40 gal aquarium (upgrade in size planned for as soon as I can afford it). I have consistently seen 7 of them (the same 7) for the last several nights (the next morning when I check m...

Super dark crab?

Hey everyone! I ended up with a new guy last night, and I'm noticing that he is MUCH darker than any of my others. Hes a big guy, too. His shell is nearly the size of a racquetball, and he looks like he's ready for a bigger house. Does anyone have any ideas? Is he a normal PP? Or something else? Tha...

How hot is too hot?

Hey there everyone! Could you please tell me how hot is too hot? My 40 gal tank is usually around 78 with 80% humidity on one end and 80 with 90% on the other (the pools are at that end) The last 2 days, something has been funky with our thermostat in the house, and the tank has been riding at 80/80...

Re: Favorite foods?

Tonight's offering was meal worms, dried coconut (the only things they ate last night), along with mango, pears, and oatmeal (original oats, not microwave kind with all the added crap that >I< think is delicious lol) coconut flour and fresh coconut are on the list for the next time we go to the stor...

Favorite foods?

hey all! I've been giving my crabs a varied diet (both fresh and dried fruit of multiple kinds, plus lots of protein options) I've only noticed anyone eating when it was mango or chicken. Are these little dudes really that picky? lol. Tonight they have coconut, dried cherry, peaches, and meal worms....

Re: New owner with 4 new babies

We got ours at Home Depot for less than $5 per 50 pound bag when we upgraded to our 40 gal. It took 1 1/3 bags of sand and 5 blocks of eco earth to get the substrate deep enough. 2/3 of the tank is a 4:1 mix, and the other 3rd is straight eco earth.
