My sweet crabbies need help 7 PP Raleigh NC

I have 7 thriving PP ranging in size from small to large. I am desperate to get them adopted out, ideally together and in their same living conditions. My father recently passed away which requires a lot of time to process and manage every… and now I am having my own health scares that could be seri...

Re: I don’t know what to do…

Hey CL77, thank you! I made the call to dig him up when I saw bright colors and was confident he wasn’t molting. The little stinker totally had his shell on and I realized the sand had caused his shell color to resemble the abdomen…plus I’ve had to do this twice with 2 different crabs, so I was para...

I don’t know what to do…

Long story, short…peeked through a window about a week ago to find a naked crab at the very bottom of my tank. Carefully dug him up (ONLY bc he was naked), but he scurried away and I didn’t want to abruptly pick him up while so fragile. He went behind a limb so I put a popular shell his size in fron...

Re: Adoption success stories.

I adopted 4 of my 7 right here from the HCA over a year ago…from 2 separate crabbers. They all share 105 gallons and are thriving!!

Re: Why are my crabs hanging by the heater

I would say it indicates they like the warmth. Mine hang out on the heater walls throughout most of the day. Depending on the current temperature of the tank, maybe consider more heat…[emoji4][emoji2370]

Re: Have to move…best practices

Long time coming update… I was very lucky that none of the crabs I had to dig for were molting. I put each (7) of them in their own container with moistened moss and a little snack. Then I stacked them between 2 20 gallon tanks with heaters and transported them that way. They stayed like that overni...

Safe?

I give these vitamins to my son and started wondering if I could break them apart and give the powder to my hermies…so they get their fruits and veggies! They are supposed to be all natural, but would love for someone here to take a look! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220527/abb8a7d121990c1f457...

Re: Have to move…best practices

Oh yea, good call! Do I have to put them each in a separate container…or can a put 2-3 in each, depending on size?

I’m mostly worried about having to dig for some…

Have to move…best practices

Okay, so after suffering from a fire earlier this year and moving out of our home to move back in 6 mos later…and now the owner (we rent) is selling the house. Ugh. We just moved back in like a month ago. When we originally left after the fire, I was able to leave crabs here while they were doing wo...

Re: Fans

The little USB fans, like for computers. Have to cover it in needlepoint canvas or similar to protect crab legs. Ok, saw those…but all I could think about was the crabs crawling over them and getting seriously injured. Makes sense to cover it with mesh. And I can just run the cord out along with my...

Re: Fans

Try a search for reptile or aquarium fans. I think for your big intricate crabitats with toppers, fans would almost be a necessity to even out the temp/humidity. For a 20, 29 or 40, it's probably not needed. I tried that [emoji4], but wasn’t sure if what I was seeing would work. I have a 40g breede...

Fans

I read somewhere about fans in(?) crabitats helping with humidity and providing a more natural like habitat. Anybody know about this? I would want to do it more for the reason of giving my crabbies a nice “tropical breeze”, haha. Did I even understand it right…are these fans in the tank? What kind o...

How cool! Had no idea this stuff existed. Now I’ll consume myself with making them more stuff, lol.
