Newish Crab caretaker & new to forum

I wouldn’t first assume she’s molting, especially if her color looks good. Crabs don’t want to molt on the surface...I would add the extra substrate so she can molt underground when she’s ready. She might just be chillin out, de-stressing and getting used to her new environment! Maybe she likes it b...

Our first molt!

Just wanted to officially share that we have had our very first successful molt! All of my crabs were under at once and I’ve only been crabbing since Sept 2020. Of course I stayed worried while they were all under there, but one of my smaller ones, Turbo, recently came up healthy and happy! He’s ver...

Re: Heat and humidity

I think it was Curly that told me I could spray around the edges of the tank and it would eventually soak in. My first crabitat had completely dry sand (didn’t know any better), but I had a crab under so I couldn’t do anything about it. It helped! Maybe you can use this technique of slowly getting i...

Re: Heat and humidity

Def need to moisten the sub...I’ve never heard that tank humidity will naturally moisten all the sub. I imagine that would be difficult, especially the sand at the bottom...it needs to be sandcastle-like consistency throughout. Also, maybe consider a moistened moss pit and/or pool bubblers! All of t...

Re: I can’t find Tiny!

Omg, I didn’t even think about that...him escaping! The only area possible is where my bubbler tube goes into the tank and I think it’s even too skinny for Tiny...I think [emoji51]. Going to double check now! Lol

Re: Guidelines on tunnels

Thank you so much for all of this! It’s in line with what I was thinking. Not going to mess with any big or sunken stuff and just going to lightly smooth the surface out for now. I want to add new and improved decor/levels/pools/hides so bad, lol!! I’m hoping they only dug all these tunnels when the...

Re: Crabitat

Hopefully your store will have a better selection than what’s around my area...I never see the Turbos (crabbies like these). They rarely even have natural shells, it’s a bummer. You’ll probably have better luck, haha! Have fun with it!

Guidelines on tunnels

I have a 40g breeder with (now) 7 PP...5 med, 1 small and 1 teeny. I currently have 4 under, presumably molting. Before the majority of them were under, they were tunneling like crazy. There are tunnels everywhere in my tank...to the point I was running out of flat spots to put their food dishes, ha...

I can’t find Tiny!

I had all 5 of my med PP crabs under at once and got bored watching/feeding my pet sand so I got 2 more hermies, a small and a teeny. My small one, Ruby, seems to be adjusting pretty well, climbing, eating, digging and hauling shell when I approach the tank. Lol. My teeny guy, Tiny, checked out a fe...
