collard greens

So I tried searching to see ways to prepare collard greens and I am not finding much. I saw one idea was to boil it in salt water (instant ocean). So I think I am going to try that but I am wondering if they freeze good? I cooked a pumpkin last night for them.. so can I just put little amounts in a ...

Re: Pumpkins

I usually put aside some cooked pumpkin for the crabs but have also offered raw. I also save some raw seeds and "guts" for them. Also roasted seeds. How I cook pumpkin is I cut it in half and place cut side down on a baking sheet. Cook in the oven about 1 hour at 350F (smaller/larger pumpkins may n...

Pumpkins

So I just saw crabs can eat pumpkins and pumpkin seeds. I have 5 little ones left over from Halloween that look to be good still.

Do they just eat any part of this raw? Or how do I go about feeding it to them?

Re: New Crab no big pincher seems kind of slow

I did find some d opening shells in my box of odd ones. :) I have 13 shells all lined up around the edges of the tank, 9 are turbos.

I haven't seen him since he first dug down. Food and shells are all just how I set them. So hopefully he's molting or getting ready to!

Re: New Crab no big pincher seems kind of slow

I don't know the name of the shell but I am pretty sure I've seen it on here someone and it's ones E's prefer or strawberries prefer maybe? I just know not PP's. He was the only one out of 10 or so at the pet store in a shell like this. I do have plenty of turbos in all different sizes. I've ordered...

Re: New Crab no big pincher seems kind of slow

Yes I want him to be safe and not stressed so I'll just see how it goes, but for the near future I'll leave him be. I do have one more question.. the shell he came in. From what I believe it's not a shell most PP would choose. All my crabs are PP. And he had absolutely no interest in changing into a...

Re: New Crab no big pincher seems kind of slow

How long should I keep him in ISO? Do I wait till his BP is fully grown back?

I think I've got everything covered you mentioned besides keeping the tank dark. I'll go stick a towel over the majority of it.

New Crab no big pincher seems kind of slow

So I was at Petco to get hamster food and I happened to walk past the hermit crabs. There was one right in front in a bright pink shell that caught my eye .. long story short he was dead and I happened to see another in and E shell I believe one of the longer ones with a small opening and his legs w...

Re: The Hermit Crab Garden ~ We're back! With new items!

My order came in yesterday! I got little flat shells and put each of the 5-6 things on a separate one and left for 5-6 hours. When I came home they were all tipped upside down and empty! My crabs loved it! Thanks!

Any chance he's still alive?

no movement so I brought him back a little while ago and got a new one. Put the new one in the main tank and watched him. He went into salt water, drank some fresh water and then to the shells. The first one he flipped over and then went right in it. Within 5 minutes of him being in the tank.

Any chance he's still alive?

THANK YOU dylan for your reply. After the other replies and his look I thought he was definitely dead so I put him in a zip lock baggie with some of the dirt for the aquarium and his shell to return him tomorrow. After your reply I went and looked at him and his color looks not so white now as it di...
