Plexiglass works great but you cannot use a heat lamp to warm the tank. With plexiglass you have to use a uth. The lamp will melt the plexiglass and can shatter regular glass. Most of us use UTHs anyway since they are easier but I just wanted to point that out in case you had planned on a heat lamp....

Thanks. I told my mom they didn't make it and she was surprised. I had to explain to her that going into optimal conditions cannot heal past damage, it just helps prevent more while they recover from it. These guys didn't get the chance to.

I am 4 months from 2 years with Houdini. Wonder how much time I have left with him. I have had Jockey only 15 months but the people I rescued him from had him close to a year. I don't see him slowing down any time soon.

Well, I am finally finished getting everything and everyone out. I lost another. I figured out that the pair I rescued from the woman my mom worked with awhile back didn't make it. They were in bad shape....I was still hopeful.

The one that was naked is still shelled and with his buddies. He was from a rescue and had molted with me when he first got here. This is his first molt after living in good conditions so I can see how he could have grown this much.

I wipe it down when I feed because they get sand in it and it looks dirty having sand stuck to the glass above the sub.

I think the worst part is the panic when you come across a cave. You don't know if the crab will be dead, alive, mid molt, freshly molted, hardened or mangled.
