Huge congratulations to you! The first molt is always the best, but I get excited every time!

For someone who never thought they would have crabs, you sound an awful lot like a "lifer" now! I was the same way. I started with 1 crab in September, and by December, I had a 55 and 13 crabs!

I have a large, just under that jumbos size, 2 mediums and a small. The large is also a serial killer, although she hasn't gotten one recently.

I hear that sound when my crabs dig under close to the glass. It is sandy claw on glass. At least that is what mine is. Don't panic.

To update, a couple of weeks ago, All of my crabs were up, except the one large e, and they all got along fine. And it was amazing seeing that many crabs interact.

Last week, the big e came up, and half of the pp's went down! Can't say I blame them! She is a devil!

If you replaced the bottom glass, and now it is covered in sand, how would the crabs even get to it?

A box of Honey Nut Cheerios will last a LONG time, and is never refused by my crabs, and doesn't attract bugs!

I have corner guards in both my tanks and love them! I used the ones from Home depot. They are about an inch wide. I punched holes about every inch then silicone them in. All my crabs go swimming in my deep kritter keeper pools! Some people don't like to use them because of how much room they take u...

Substrate should be play sand with ecoearth , or just sand. That is as close to their natural habitat, and kept at the right moisture, will hold their molting caves and tunnels. That is what they live for, so is crucial to their survival. I have had bugs periodically but never deep cleaned for them....

Same as for pp's.

I just went through this. Mine has 3 legs left, no pitchers, but she ate and drank with help. It took her a couple of weeks to figure out molting, but she is finally under. I had dug her a hole and she went down but came back up, stuffed her face again, and dug herself under. Don't give up hope, but...

How long have you had her? What are your conditions like? Dropping limbs is usually a sign of post purchase stress, and soon after, they pass. Or it could be from an attack, or a surface molt. We really need more info on your conditions before we can make an educated guess.
