Re: Hi everyone!

I find tap a talk good for uploading photos but all my videos of my breeding processes vanished. They were uploaded from tap a talk too. No one seems to know what happened to them.

Re: Breeding and Adopting Out

Having the right habitat to encourage breeding isn't all that difficult and now that many more people are keeping crabs in good conditions we are seeing a lot more with eggs. It is the stages after they are deposited in the salt water that cause the difficulties. Anything we do needs to mimic the oc...

Re: Hermit Crab Age

My two crabs hatched on 4th December 2016 and are totally different in size. They have had the same conditions and access to the same food and shell choices their entire lives so size doesn't really give an indication of age other than bigger is usually older BUT having said that bigger is NOT older...

Re: Asking for help, how to properly cycle water tanks

Salt mix usually buffers to around 8.2, to better match sea water. If you have any shells or coral in the pool, that will up the pH as well. I've got a bit of rock in there but its not marine rock. I'll test again in a week or so and see what's happening. Thanks for the advice. I have been quite su...

Re: What salt solution is available in Australia

I believe Renroc used red sea, but then again she might source marine salt water from local beaches, which ive heard of many aussie crabbers do with careful screening and UV filtration. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk I haven't acutally used Red Sea Salt. BUT yes I did use ocean sourced water ...

Re: What salt solution is available in Australia

I've been able to get Ocean Pure and Red Sea Salt quite easily. The latest stuff I have is Tropic Marin which has German and English on the box.

Re: Asking for help, how to properly cycle water tanks

My fresh water PH is 7 and that has prime in as well . Maybe the ph is higher because it is a fresh water test kit that I used for the salt water. SO how do I get the ammonia down and Nitrate up? Or will that happen after a little while? Need to test the specific gravity of the salt too. Must find m...

Re: Asking for help, how to properly cycle water tanks

How long has the water been in your pool? Generally your ammonia with rise. When the ammonia is high nitrates will slowly raise and lower the ammonia level. Then the same thing happens between the nitrates and nitrites too. When any of the levels get to the unsafe range do a partial water change 50...

Re: Asking for help, how to properly cycle water tanks

I don't really understand cycled pools but have a 3L salt pool in my tat. It has a filter and an airstone. I've just done a water test and got the following readings with an API test kit.
PH 8.4
Ammonia 0.5ppm
Nitrate 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm

Does this mean I have a cycled pool?

Has anyone tried to make their own? Wondering if wire coated in liquid rubber would work. Open to other suggestions.

Do you get a time readout on the playback option so you can record what time particular events happen?

I weighed this crab on 12 March and it was 20g. I weight it again yesterday and it was 22g. Totally filling that huge shell now Image
