Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
I keep getting excited imagining that someone may be able to get their zoea/megalopa to land while I'm a part of this community :) I wish you the best of luck! Hi there PinchersAndShells. This is my second attempt. I got 20 to shells and transition last time and 6 to land but they didn't survive fi...

Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016

Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
Tuesday 13th December Day 10 Not even in shells yet. 0830 and I did a 1/3 water change and checked with magnifying glass. Could see non in shells but they are in and around the shells getting the food that has settled there. Definitely not eating each other as there are 3 or 4 together getting the ...

Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
I am very happy with the progress today. Did a final water change (33%) at midnight. Sat and watched for a little while and is going to sound really weird but I was looking through the magnifying glass again and I thought for about 2 seconds that one mega had a stinger (like bees) until I realised i...

I dont know what sizes you'd need but have some tiny ones and can post a picture if you like. No rush but if it comes to little crablets i wouldn't mind sending them. Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
Monday 12th December Day 9 I’m much relieved to be able to see gut tracks in both jars today. I can even see black spots where eyes are. They are growing. 0830 did a 33% water change and then added 1 drop of prime and a shake of food. Some in both jars are laying on their backs with legs out waiting...

Shell grit for birds is one source and I've also scoured the local beach shell grit. Plus Natalie Van Amstel has sent me some after my last attempt.kieagcarm wrote:Where did you find shells tiny enough for these miracles?

Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
Well it seems I still have a lot to learn. High mortality rate in the synthetic ocean jar (jar 1) which is more than likely due to me doing water changes taking too much out at once. OK so next time (when the kriesel is up and running I plan to mark on the end of the tank top water level and then a ...

Re: Aussie Breeding attempt #2 Dec 2016
Very tired as I've driven to Brisbane and back (2hrs each way) and been to see Cirque Du Soliel today. Before I left Bought some marine salt this morning. 1300 Looked carefully and definitely have lobster claws out the front and hanging onto shed skins. Put a bit of food and some shells in before I ...
