Re: Uh oh..crab on the loose

I’d put the wood back. It will absorb moisture but only till it is damp enough. I have wood in both my tanks. Crabs eat it.

Old shell on top new shell size on bottom. This one was one of the 15mm shells I put in the same dish the crab picked one from.

Re: Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017

10mm shell to 15mm in a single change. No wonder they were ignoring the 11/13mm options I had in there. 2nd one changed today. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180207/b5aaa9ce3a07016f9606dc41a552959f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180207/7c6d77e7be90ba0e14d03e57da5e98b3.jpg Sent from my iP...

Re: Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017

they are growing so much. They will soon be looking for these monster 11mm shells I’ve just added to the tank. 13months and I’m pretty sure I have 6. I saw 4 at once last night. SOO wrong there with this comment. They totally by passed the 11/12 mm shells and have gone straight to 14/15mm  :l...

Re: Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017

I sent some time today taking the 10mm shells out (Obviously they are not big enough) and adding some 12-15mm shells. THEY seem HUGE but that's the size of the shell this baby selected.

Re: Did my crabby drop some eggs??

I'd say they are almost certainly eggs. Hermit crab poop is long and skinny like thick cotton. If the eggs are not viable it is likely they have been ditched. The second lot are probably the remainder of the clutch she was carrying and didn't get rid of totally the first time. Hermit crab eggs will ...

This tank has 6 tiny babies in shell openings 6-10mm. They by size ate huge amounts in the same time frame as their parents.

This tank has 3 crabs in it that are in 3-4cm opening shells. This is the evidence of overnight eating.
