Re: The 4ft monster is born...
About 5 months ago I spoiled the fish so it's the crabs turn now, the fish had a total tank remodel and it was fun to watch them explore new stuff, they don't get new stuff often because usually my dad pays for the fish because he likes them, no one else seems to understand crabbies haha All my fri...

Re: The 4ft monster is born...
My parents say I spent to much on mine too! I save up allowance and yard work money to buy plants, food, and recently a upgrade tank. It's just to hard not to spoil them rotten. They're like, you can save up for a TV or computer and I'm like well the crabs need more stuff still and my parents just ...

Re: The 4ft monster is born...
No, it is in no way excessive. Remember that they had an entire island to roam over in the wild, and as they grow, they need much more molting space. Any size tank is tiny compared to what they would have naturally, and adding individuals to a group in captivity always geometrically multiplies (not...

Re: The 4ft monster is born...
Thanks my parents think it is excessive for four hermit crabs but unless there are any for adoption close by it will only ever house fourDragonsFly wrote:Looks like an excellent home for your fab four.

Re: Tank Flooded Again
The bubble pools shouldn't make more water condense at the bottom of the tank-- unless the water is spilling out of the pools somehow? Or I guess if you had a far too strong pump for the size of the pools, so it was literally spraying water out of the pools? Anyway, it does sound like you just had ...

Re: Tank Flooded Again
Sorry, I could have been more specific. The idea is to make twists of paper towel, stick them down into holes (you can make with your finger) to the bottom of the tank, let the paper towel twists soak up the excess water, then take them out (and throw them away); repeat as necessary, until your sub...

Re: Tank Flooded Again
You can "unflood" the tank by poking holes in the substrate and pushing down twists of paper towel to sop up the water, until you're back to reasonable amount of moisture in the substrate again. If there is so much water that the molter has literally been under water for some time, then he's probab...
