Re: Green sand?

Get rid of it! You've got mold!!! Sand does not absorb water. It just sits there and molds. That's why you use eco earth to absorb the water.

Re: Is Ringo Okay?

The first couple of weeks the crabs need time to adjust to their new home. As long as you are not seeing any limbs and not smelling the death smell. The best thing for her is to leave her alone and let her de stress. I've had crabs for some time now and all have molted a few times and some of them a...

Re: Crab wont get off mesh lid

Try blowing on him. If that doesn't work then maybe a light spray. Usually if I have something like that I will just pick them off. But if you try the other 2 methods first and they don't work. It will be harder to just pick him up as he will be holding on tighter. So maybe try to pick him off then ...

Re: Bad Situation.. Move and Isolate?

What about moving the active crabs over to the 10 gallon and leave Bison alone. It is never a good idea to dig up a crab especially when they are molting. If it was me personally that is what I would do.

Re: Can Superworms hurt crabs?

They will probably go down and molt themselves into the adult beetle form... Also, Indo not think they are carnivorous.

What is the maximum number of crabs for a 20 gallon?

It really depends on the size of the crab but you have to remember the crabs will grow and will require more room. With your size crab I say you are at full capacity in a 20g. I don't know where you read on here that over crowding is fine because over crowding is not fine. It leads to all kinds of p...

Crab - PP or Ruggie???

Just remember, while buying crabs to save the you give pet stores more money, and essentially you're "vote" that what they do is ok. I know it's hard to resist, and my first crabs where purchased, so I by no means judge. But a much better way to help crabs in need is to find adoptions of on Craigsl...

Re: Crab - PP or Ruggie???

PP. Can you get some clearer pics? She is looking a bit poorly to me but maybe it's the lighting? She is, when I adopted her she went down for a molt on the drive home, came up for about a month then went back down again and just came up without her shell. I have her in an ISO tank and she re shell...

To me it sounds like you are cleaning way too much. It probably was something from the Eco earth. What did it look like?? Was it stuck in the ground?

Re: Oh, crab! The crabitat has to move....

Well, my husband insisted that they should be able to move it without taking anything out. I figured he would change his mind when they tried it. What they did was actually pretty clever. We discovered that the kitchen table is almost exactly the same height as the tank stand. We put furniture glid...

Re: When to upgrade?

I have had my 2 little PP's since April, May. They have each gone through 2 molts already, one fairly long then another quick/short molt. How long does one go before upgrading size of the tank? I currently have a 10gal with about 6 inches of sub. They seem to be happy hermies so far, changing shell...

Re: Ecuadorians or nah?

Do you know if a 15 or 20 could be an option for an upgrade? You are welcome!!! I think a 20g would be perfect for a few years as long as you can get 12 inches of substrate and have room on top for hidy homes, climbing things, food, water, etc. You need to go get him!!! Rescue him!!! I know you wil...
