Re: After Molting Question

Interesting! I have a crab down molting now. I'll keep an eye out for something like that once he/she comes up. I wonder if it's just exoskeleton and they'll eat it over time? Do you guys bath your crabs after they come up from a molt? I just got my crabs so this is my first molt but I've read that ...

Re: Talking to Hermit Crabs

What a beautiful little cutie! I talk to my crabbies but they have an attitude issue so I tend not to bother them too much. Olve only wants to talk when HE is in the mood and little Yippe just talks smack from under the sub since she's molting right now and can't come say it to my face. Sent from my...

Re: Uncooked meat and flowers?

Oh my little Olve must be one mean crabby then! He did not come with a BBQ unfortunately. Such a shame, I was craving ribs tonight... I thought he'd cook some Caribbean food with those little purple punchers of his

Re: Uncooked meat and flowers?

Very true I guess there aren't little crabby beach BBQs going on in the Caribbean. I thought for sure they kept little grills in the ground with them while they molt! I must be mistaken then[emoji57] The sushi was completely natural: just cooked shrimp, rice, seaweed, crab, avocado, cucumbers, and f...

Re: Uncooked meat and flowers?

I'm wondering this as well because I had some sushi last night and would like to share the salmon and shrimp with my little guys but I won't until I know for sure that it's safe for them to have fresh raw (or maybe half raw?) salmon. I'd imagine we can give them the flowers fresh but you should wait...

Same here. Mine has been running at 99% with two very happy little apple-eating/ molting crabbies and very very little mold issues

Re: humidity 87%

My hygrometer reads 99% humidity constantly and I haven't had any issues. I haven't had my crabs very long but the one that isn't molting right now is quite active and happy and hardly even scared of me even though I've only had him 6 days now. I also haven't had any mold issues yet, aside from one ...

Re: Molting and UTH

It's getting chilly where I live too but with my heater the tank stays at 82 during the day and 79 at night. If you can place the UTH on the back of your tank without disturbing your molter you should see a difference in temp fairly quickly

Re: Meeting?

It's the little cleanish-white stump in between the bases of his LP and leg. If you zoom in you can see it fairly well

Re: Meeting?

Well I'm not entirely sure it actually is a gel limb but if you look very closely you'll see in between his little pincher and his leg there's a little clear stump sticking out from where his first leg should be. Forgive me it's not a clear photo but I really didn't want to handle them too much sinc...

My crabs fight over the coconut. They above each other and will be trying to drag each other away from the coconut. The absolutely love it. I haven't tried providing coconut for my hermits yet. Do they like it? I don't eat much coconut so I don't have any but I do have coconut oil

Interesting! I've never heard of crabs doing this. Maybe someone with a little more experience can chime in soon. I'm curious as why exactly they do that

Re: Trader Joes Himalayan pink salt crystals: Safe ?

I'm glad you asked too! My husband works at Trader Joe's and likes to bring home goodies for me occasionally. He brought me a bottle of that salt a while back. I still have a bunch! I'll let my babies try it out tonight
