Crab underwater with no shell on.

So I have a large saltwater pool for my crabs, 3 gallons about 8 to 10 inch's deep. I have posted pictures of it before. My strawberries love going in it and staying down for rather long, like an hour. And not because they can't get out. My big guy Wooly will go and sit on top the air stone filter f...

Re: Accidentaly brought home hermit from Okinawa HELP!

Wow. This is all amazing, crazy and I wish I had him. Lol. Definitely get him a buddy. Like GB said 1 per 5 gallon if its not a large or jumbo. Tons of info on this site for care. A different species will be fine with him. You will most likely find Purple Pinchers at pet stores. And good luck and I'...

Re: New crab owner

Yes they certainly could all be in need of a molt. Or they are very stressed and just want to hide under ground. I have had them go under right away from the store with me too. Don't worry they will come up. Let them be. Mix the coconut fiber with the sand. Here is the link for substrate. http://www...

Re: 60 gallon with large pool.

Great setup and cute crabs! Have you considered adding a bubbler to your pool? It works wonders for humidity!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The air stone filter also acts is a bubbler. Its basically just a plastic box with sponge/carbon in it and powered by air. I got it on amazon. My wife al...

Re: 60 gallon with large pool.

You mentioned having 2 pools. I only see one. Where's the other?? I like your setup but having straws, they need things to do like vines & nets or even a hamster wheel. Vines will even double as coverage. Sent from my HTC6515LVW using Tapatalk The fresh water is much smaller on top the deck. O, I s...

Re: 60 gallon with large pool.

So cool to see them that deep underwater. It never really occurred to me that they would go under even though I know they need water features. I just kept the water shallow and never thought past that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Yes actually I have only seen my pp's go all the way in the salt...

60 gallon with large pool.

Been on hca a while now so I figured I would put some pics up of my tank and a couple of my crabs. Most of them are under right now. Its a 60 gallon with a foot of play sand mixed with coconut soil. They have a few hiding/climbing places. Shell shack above the log. The tunnel with underground cave w...

Re: Sand question

That's what I have been using for a few years now. I pour a little in and then wet it down pretty good and keep doing that. I use fresh water for that. I also mix in layers of coconut soil soaked in saltwater. It might not be the best but it stays humid, decent tunnels, and they molt good in it. And...
