I was horrified for a moment...

But they just made a mess of dried peppers! It looked like the scene of a crab massacre.

Re: Are my jumbos still at risk for PPS?

:( That's tough to hear but I definitely understand. At least now I'm not kidding myself, thinking they're out of the woods.

Are my jumbos still at risk for PPS?

Hello, So, I looked back at when I joined the lovely HCA, which was the same day I impulse bought my 2 jumbo crabs, and realized that it's only been since July 31st. It's felt like so much longer! Anyway, my tiny PPs, my one E, and my two straws have all gone down to molt and have come back up in th...

Re: Silicon vs. Hot Glue Gun in water

I tried hot glue in my tank and the humidity alone made it fall apart within a couple weeks. :(

Re: Getting glass bottom off

May I make the suggestion of getting a cheap $5 roll of drawer laminate paper? I found stuff from Duck brand that is plastic, was using it for tank backgrounds, but when I busted our glass cooktop we used leftovers to cover the surface which contained most of the tiny shards when we had to smash th...

Re: Anyone ever been to Baja and seen wild Es?

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that we'd love to see those pictures! That sounds wonderful. Being from the US, I'd never heard of Broome but, wow, the pictures on Google are sure pretty. I've always wanted to go see the Great Barrier Reef but maybe one day I can afford a lavish trip to travel all ...

Re: Two straws and an E under at the same time-- I'm worried

Woohoo! Both straws are officially up! The one on the top right, who I've named Francis, is the one that came up first and picked that cool polished turbo. The one on the left just came up sometime last night so no name yet. He retreats into his shell every time I walk up so I can't tell if he's hai...

Anyone ever been to Baja and seen wild Es?

Hello, I am going on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico next year and was wondering what my chances of seeing some wild Es might be. It'd be really cool to see them in their natural habitat! Bonus question: if one wanted to take a trip with its main purpose being to see large numbers of wild hermies (any ...

Re: Getting glass bottom off

It'll shatter and you have to then spend time with gloves and a razor blade getting the shards of glass and silicone still stuck to the remaining glass. Make sure to really scrape/shave off all the silicone. Then you'll want to silicone the black rim piece back onto it for stability and, I'm sure, s...

Re: Getting glass bottom off

Like daws, I just smashed it. I tried for a while to get it out in one piece but it was too frustrating.

Re: Two straws and an E under at the same time-- I'm worried

The E, Pierre, came up a few nights ago! Definitely molted, even though it was rather speedy, because his leg is healed and he's a hairy little guy now. I wasn't too worried about him, although it's still awesome to know he had a good molt. The even better news, though, is that a straw came up this ...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000HJ75 ... UTF8&psc=1

I bought that on Amazon and then used a couple of Command's rated-for-the-bathroom Velcro strips to mount it inside the tank.

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

It seems that the crabbies can be quite the individuals with individual tastes and preferences. I think mine really like oats and raisins and bananas. I'm going to go get a whole coconut to try. I've been feeding a lot of fish protein but it seems widely untouched so I'm going to try a red meat. Wo...

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

Popcorn is definitely my crabs' #1, no doubt about it. I offer it almost everyday because it's always gone in the morning. Honey and coconut oil are also quite popular. They like the flowers I offer them (roses and pansies) more than the leaves (birch). Finally, as far as protein goes, it's gotta b...
