LOL, what a daredevil! My crabbies do this all the time. I'm reminded of their wannabe-Spider-Man antics when I hear them falling off things at 3 in the morning.
I've put nets and vines in every avalible space but noooo, they want to climb on the ceiling.

Re: Encouraging Breeding?
Thank you. I'm not sure I'd be able to handle raising Zoeae after seeing how hard it is... but I'll cheer you and mlakers on from the sidelines!

Re: Encouraging Breeding?
Thanks wodesorel. I'll do my best.
However, it seems all my E's are interested in currently is shoving each other off the climbing furniture and then chirping as loud as the can if anyone gets near them.
They don't strike me as interested in becoming parents, but we'll see.

Re: Large Tank Topper
Looking into getting the topper custom built... we'll see.
In the meantime, I'm hoping to build the vines and get the foam tests going soon.

Re: Aquarium salt - what to do with it?
Unless there are additives, I think you'd be good to go. I'm fairly certain it's just sea salt?

Re: Encouraging Breeding?
I see... yikes. I wouldn't want that to happen! I have two medium sized males. Lately they've been bothering each other, but mostly just antennae wars and a bit of shoving. The girls couldn't care less. I'll just leave them alone and see what happens. Maybe the upgrade will cause them to change thei...

Re: Encouraging Breeding?
I think the only thing I'm lacking is a fabulous saltwater pool. I'm brainstorming ideas to upgrade from the dishes I have, which are sufficient, just not great. I'm thinking some 5 gallon glass aquariums? I keep freshwater fish, so I'd be able to cycle a freshwater pool, but I've never had salt, so...

Encouraging Breeding?
I am trying to see if I'm able to pull off a crabitat remodel soon. I'm wondering, what conditions should I try to recreate to make it conducive to breeding? I have two male and two female Es.
I've been reading the other breeding threads, but wondered if there's anything special I should add for Es?

Re: Fabric?
If I ever get around to the project, I'll show you guys. Thanks!
I think burlap should work. It's fine if it isn't colorful, I can't think of any safe fabrics that would be.

Fabric?
I had a crazy idea for a project, and I wondered if there is any fabric that is crab safe? It'd have to put up with the humidity, and at least be somewhat durable (though I'm sure I'd eventually have to replace it). Does anyone have any ideas for a cloth that could work?

Re: Hermit Crab Shell Preferences Survey :)
Ooh, okay! I'll try to figure out what to call it and then add it to the survey.
