I use heavy duty wire cutters. I had them for years when I tied rebar in my construction days. They are made by Kline. They make clean cuts along the edge.
Ok. Great. Thanks.

Re: Need help designing above ground pools

For my tat in development, I had a back egg crate vertical 90 deg ziptied, and a "ladder" like motorcrab mentioned Long the pvc pipe to give stability so it doesn't waver. My platform flips on top of the pool as opposed to off the opposite side, but same concept. The part on top of the main part of...

Re: Need help designing above ground pools

What are you going to use for your pools? Plastic containers? I think you can still use the egg crate and cut the center of the platform out for the pool to drop in. Then you can zip tie the PVC pipe to the egg crate. For reinforcement you and add 3-4 squares of egg crate below the platform. Think ...

How large are your proposed pvc pipes and pool? I can help draft something.

The pvc pipes will stick out about 5" maybe. And the pools will be plastic containers. Rectangle.

Re: Need help designing above ground pools

If you use the egg crate you can zip tie that together and build "walls" for the deck. As long as you don't have babies they should be able to climb up to the pools no problem. I built a log cabin out of egg crate then covered it with bark. I think you could do something similar and have it double ...

Need help designing above ground pools

I'm upgrading my 40gb to a 75g. I would like to do above ground, actually 2nd level pools. I have 4 pvc pipes, small diameter that I plan on standing up in the substrate. I want to attach a platform to the "poles". Then place the pool in the center of platform but "dropped down". Picture an above gr...

Re: HELP! Introducing 3 adopted crabs to my 1 crab?

What I've read on here is when the molter comes up, hopefully you'll know shortly after, give him a quick dip in the freshwater pool, like you would introducing a new crab. Wow, that was a long sentence.

Re: Hermit crab won't go back in shell

Thanks for your response, curlysister! The relative humidity has only rarely been at 65%, like if there's a major temperature shift overnight... I was just reporting the full range I've seen. The majority of the time it's between 78-82%. I forgot to mention the calcium source....I alternate between...

Re: Baking substrate

Yes I have a tank. Having a hard time keeping the humidity level up, though. Do you need an overhead heat lamp if you have heaters on the back side of the cage? Temperature is always right, but humidity is not. I have my heat lamp sitting on top of the grated lid, so I lose a bit of humidity. If I ...

Re: Hermies in the dorms??

So I recently had my 2 hermies pass away, and I was thinking about getting some more. My problem is that I'll be transferring to University in a couple months. I have the tank and everything for crabs, but I don't know if I should get new crabs or not. Are they hard to keep in a dorm? I did check w...

Re: Recently rescued a crab

So I thought I'd post an update and ask a question... After having last been seen on 8/29 (and no signs at all of him coming up) Moe *finally* resurfaced this morning after 11 weeks being under!! I legitimately shouted to my husband and kids, "OMG - he's alive!!!" when I saw him out and about. He'd...
