Re: How long is too long for my hermit crab to be molting?

I’ve been waiting 7 months, I know he’s gone but I can never get rid of the “small spark of hope”

Re: How long is too long for my hermit crab to be molting?

I wouldn't worry. Upgraded the tank and had a single crab that hadn't come up. Waited months for her to come to the surface, nothing. Eventually convinced myself she was dead, did the big no-no of digging for crabs, found her just chilling at the bottom of the tank in a nice cozy hidey hole, no sig...

Re: How long is too long for my hermit crab to be molting?

If they went down late January then I would not be concerned. 4 month mark is when I get worried

Re: 2 Lights

Yes, I was just wondering if 2 different colors would harm them in any way

2 Lights

Is it fine to have a yellow LED and a white LED in use at the same time?

Re: Sad Crabs

The TV faces away from them so the light wouldn’t be an issue. I was thinking if the noise or radiation would affect them. It isn’t a high-traffic area either. I would download Tapatalk but the first time I downloaded it I got spam emails constantly

Re: Sad Crabs

I would post a pic but Tinypic shut down so I can’t. I have a wyze cam to see what they do at night and one barely moves while the other is out for a few hours, they used to be so much more active

Re: Sad Crabs

Yea, I would only be moving surface stuff. I notice (at least with my crabs) they always want me to switch up surface items around so they don't become bored. As previously said I am not sure the crab is dead but its been 6 months and it usually takes 2 months for him to molt. I also have a Wyze Cam...

Re: Sad Crabs

SHould I just move around the decor? For the 0.001% that the molting crab is still alive, moving things around would probably suffocate him. But my crabs seem to be slowing down right in front of my eyes.

Re: Sad Crabs

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Coco fiber and playsand, 9 inches (this is what annoys me to put it lightly: I had a previous death of my little E and my substrate was only 6 inches. So I got a 29 gallon tank and increased the substrate, but now I experienced anoth...
