One of my crab, Ellen, loves to sleep in this cholla wood. He been doing for days. I believe I read one of the posts on here stated that jumbo crabs can stay down burrowing for over 10 months or so. But maybe someone with large crabs and more experience can tell you more in details.

Also, if there are no bad smell, they should be ok.

When I first have the crabs, they were usually chirping at night for many consecutive days then they stopped. Not sure when they would do it again. There was another event when I was misting the tank and hit one of the crabs with the mist and he chirped too like "hey, stop it"
