Re: What are common ways to make a second level?
My first attempt at making a second level and I’m looking for some suggestions (besides a net) for a way for my crabs to get to it. I have a piece of cholla wood there now but I don’t think it’s great. Thoughts or suggestions please! Thanks! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180902/287a1b69e5f5e29...

Re: Wood and mold
I also found mold in my wood, I cleaned it off and soaked it in salt water After that I let it air dry in the sun for a whole day. Waited until it was completely dry to put it back in. I was also lucky enough to get isopods to help prevent the mold from coming back. No mold ever since. Sent from my...

Re: Mold HELP.
I have had really good luck boiling in heavily salted water and then letting it dry out completely. I use regular sea salt for that, since it's the sodium chloride that acts as the mold inhibitor and it's crab safe. Saves a bundle over using MSW! Regular salt is not enough for their drinking water,...

Re: Water dishes
Got some lunch meat containers (thanks to a tip from ciaraalston and used aquarium sealant to make a rock ramp for the crabs to crawl out. I’m liking them!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180901/585b4020e468d4eec52ac487d23a62aa.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180901/88cc554f55d2fcf0aee4c2...

Re: Wood and mold
I just posted a Q in another thread but these suggestions are very good. I didn’t know mold wasn’t harmful to crabs.

Re: Mold HELP.
I too get mold on my wooden decor. Is the suggestion to soak them in MSW first? Should that prevent mold growth? I’m afraid to spray the tank with MSW because of the salt residue that gets left behind.

Re: Molting in Calcium Sand; Should I Worry?
I just wanted to say thanks for all of the advice! I did a fast substrate swap today and found my one guy buried under the dry calci sand... and he was still alive! I quick gave him a bath to get the crap off of him, then put him back in his home once it was ready. I don’t see him now so I think he ...

Re: Is all playsand safe
Well, I did a substrate swap today and I think my crabs are loving it (pics below). The best part is that one of them WAS BURIED in the calci sand and he was still alive!!! I was so relieved! I actually think he reburied himself in the new substrate already and that makes me happy. The first pic bel...
