Re: Substrate mixing question

Thank you! It will be crabless for a few days so I think I will start out with the 5:1 and see how the humidity holds up for a day or 2 and go from there.

Substrate mixing question

Hello! I am going to be setting up a new tank in the next few days (once I find a suitable stand or table that will hold the weight). I know that most use the 5:1 ratio but I was thinking of going more with the EE for humidity reasons...is it okay to do a 5:2 or 5:3 ratio? I don’t have a lid for the...

Re: What to do?

Hoping the one that I watched switch shells and go down is molting because he needs to...chose a better shell but it seemed so heavy for him! I caught a glimpse of him down at the bottom through the glass and covered the glass there....soooo dang hard to not sneak a peak especially after having lost...

Re: What to do?

I’m having the same issue. I want to add a bigger fresh water pool and can’t for fear of collapsing anything underneath..it’s frustrating but I’m waiting it out even though it’s killing me!! Lol Someone is always down. I’m beginning to realize this lol! Right now my big guy came up to eat and what ...

Re: Crabitat done!

Congrats on the shell change, I’ve been begging my crabs to change out of their painted shells I’ve seen them shopping but so far no takers. Omg the store I originally got my crabs from was horrible. They were kept in those mesh crabitats with no substrate with no way to keep their humidity in. All...

Re: Crabitat done!

I started with a five gallon with 2 medium crabs, bone-dry substrate, 5 mm deep pools, and no humidity or temperature in the recommended, and I thought I knew so much. I know! They store people made it sound like they didn’t need very much! At least when we got them home I DID know to at least get ...

Re: Changed into a new shell

Yay! We were watching one of our newly acquired guys last night as he checked out new shells I had put in...unfortunately he hasn’t changed yet....maybe soon. His current shell seems cumbersome but he’s dealing I guess...

Re: Well water question?

We also don't drink our well water, and don't give it to our pets. We do boil foods in it, brush our teeth, shower with it etc. I don't use it for my crabs. I use the RO water that we get for our drinking water. I’m now using our well water but treated with Prime. It makes my life much easier knowi...

Re: Well water question?

You can, but keep in mind any toxins (like heavy metals) will be present in the water and not the best to offer to the crabs on a daily basis. A bit of prime gives you a 'cover all bases' option. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Now I’m confused lol...the first response said that the heavy meta...

Re: Well water question?

Is there any contamination reason you're not drinking from it? If it's safe for human or pet consumption it's generally safe for hermits. Prime is really only a must if there is chlorination involved, BUT it will also neutralize any trace heavy metals which is good for hermits and which well water ...
