Re: Pale crab?

Looks like he molted to me!! The pics aren't very clear, but I believe I see hairy legs lol. Check for hairy legs and pointy black toe nails 😉

I have my molter in a 20 gal tall right now too, they dont need a ton of room while molting. He will probably just dig down, eat his exo, an stay in one spot until he is hard enough to get out and about again.

I would leave him in the iso bowl with his exo and sit the bowl down in your main tank. It is important to let him eat his exo!! Let him finish molting before putting back with the other crabs. I just had a big flood in my tank and I also have a molting crab in a bowl.

Re: My Substrate Seems Very Saturated

Flooding is not something I would put off... I just found out about 8pm last night that my tank was flooded. I was up until 6am just getting all of my babies out. Luckily they were all alive, I did have two down molting though. It was bad, tunnels were collapsed and the bottom of my sub was like a s...

Re: New Crabber with a few setup questions

Hello, sounds like you are doing great on your crabitat improvements. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents... I use a plexiglass lid (cut to fit) and drilled holes to fit tubing and wires. Many people also use glass lids. When you say netting to help them out of the water do you mean fish net? I'm sor...

Re: Food on 2nd level

Hey Hermiesguardian, just wanted to let you know that I watched my crab footage from last night... And one of my crabbies snacked on river shrimp (on the top floor) for about 20 mins, then he picked him one up and off he went. He took it to the next level down, across the shell shop, then on down to...

Re: Just a few cute hermie shots

I'm not familiar with reptisand... I looked it up and see "white natural sand" which SHOULD be safe as long as it's not too coarse. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in on that. I just know you don't want calcium sand for sure, and I'm glad you got rid of the colored. As pretty as it loo...

Re: Just a few cute hermie shots

Cute crabbies!! Just wondering if this (what looks to me like) colorful gravel is their current sub?

Re: Food on 2nd level

I leave food on the ground level and on the highest level in my tank. I don't have isopods but the crabbies seem to find them both just fine.

Buythesea & Question about sea urchin spines -Please advise!!

Has anyone shopped @ Buytheseaonline? I got some shells from there and was only some change away from free shipping... So I threw a few sea urchin spines in. Didn't think about it until I went to put one in my tank tonight, but I'm not sure if the are treated with anything or if they are safe. I cou...

Re: Crab fight maybe... Please help!!

Well, I was really hoping for a bit more help here... But I believe I've got it all sorted out. Last night I got all the shells rinsed and Junior picked one right away so he went back to gen pop. I also got my Wyze cam set up!! (My early Birthday gift from my wonderful boyfriend) Poppy went after Ju...

Re: Crab fight maybe... Please help!!

Thanks Motorcrab. I actually watched your video and read your post about this. I will definitely pull all old shells, rinse, and add them back with the new ones asa I get them. Hopefully this will fix the problem, fingers crossed.

Re: Crab fight maybe... Please help!!

Now that I think about it... The bubblers in both pools were added after Christmas, and I added on to my second level (with same materials already used previously so not really "new") I don't think they are part of the problem though.

Re: Crab fight maybe... Please help!!

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Coconut fiber and play sand mix about 50/50, 8-9 inches. (I unintentionally made a slight slope) I mixed it with about 2/3 dechlorinated msw and 1/3 dechlorinated fw to sand castle consistency. 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to me...
