Re: Color Preference
How odd! Mine don’t touch strawberries either come to think of it, although I know they’d like them. Maybe some fresh green ones or pink ones from my (organic) patch in the spring. That’s a bummer bc I was excited to be able to share those and my blueberries with the crabbies! Guess we are down to ...

Re: Suggestions for backgrounds
Ok, I'm going over some plant options, but still not sure. I want something with runners/vines. I already have a pothos and it's holding up very well. I will prop the pot on the glass, but I still don't know what to plant.

Re: Eating, drinking, noise concerns.
Oh yeah. I forgot to say peeled apples. I do feel, however, I don't give them enough meat. Today I will go after some dried bloodworms. I gave them some meat last week, but it's tough to find the right stuff for them. Where do you all get your meats?

Color Preference
So I've been noticing a pattern in the crabs likes and dislikes. I used to give them bits of apples, and they would just leave them sitting in their bowl. They'd eat other wet fruits such as avocado. I tried strawberry, didn't even deserve acknowledgment. Finally I noticed, when I walked in with my ...

Re: Suggestions for backgrounds
Thanks! I'm thinking I'll use aquarium background for one of the two patches.

Suggestions for backgrounds
Ok, I'm so close to finishing the new crabitat with the fountain and large second level. I have a 4"x4" patch of glass that needs a background on it, as well as an 8"x4" patch. The rest of the tank is coconut climbing fiber background. I was thinking cork logs with air plants, but that might just be...

Re: Eating, drinking, noise concerns.
Ok, I've been feeding almonds, eggshells, lettuce, and on very few occasions honey. I think green shell is under, molting. I noticed a lot of eating earlier, and all of a sudden he/she stopped coming up. The new tank is almost finished, I'll move grey shell over in a few days, then green shell a cou...

Eating, drinking, noise concerns.
So recently I've been working on the new tank, but simultaneously observing very closely (to see if there are any more obstacles). Here are the patterns I've noticed. One crab (They don't have names...) lets call him grey shell, comes out every day at ~4:00 PM when it's about 73° and 73% humidity. H...

Re: Not molting, not dead, where is he?
How long ago did he molt? How long was he under that time? I wouldn't be too worried, they don't always leave a sand pile or any other sign of where they went down. That's right- I had the exact same situation a while ago... One crab stayed under a long time after molting, I left him alone, and I d...

Re: Should I be worried
Lately Ive noticed that both crabs havent come up very much, and since they don’t eat much its tough to tell if they’re coming up at all. My tank is right by my bed so I can usually hear them. I haven’t heard a single thing at night lately, so I figured they’re both molting. Last night I stayed up j...

Re: Possible Upgrade?
Ah. I am currently filling up a 36 gallon aquarium and turning it into a crabitat. I will add more crabs once it is finished, and I have completed the process of setting most of it up, including a live pothos which is used to the climate and being watered with distilled water. I have a waterfall plu...

Re: Isopod count?
What you say about the bearded dragon reminds me of an AntsCanada (Cool ant farm utuber) episode/series of a farm/terrarium that was made that is self sustaining (except for having to spray them). It housed a colony of trapjaw ants. The ants would bury their food in their nest, but since the trapjaw...

Re: Should I be worried
I find it weird how they go underground/surface week by week and not day by day. Do you have a camera? Perhaps he comes up when you're asleep and is destressing for a long time. What's your substrate and heating like? Does he seem energetic?

Thanks for the suggestions! Good to know. Ill be leaving the pool empty besides the mesh. I also ordered an extra pump for changing it out once and a while.
